About the author

Birger Sellin was the first functionally non-verbal person with autism to become a published author in Germany.

His first published work, largely poetry, was entitled I Don't Want to Be Inside Me Anymore: Messages from Autistic Mind and soon became translated in languages worldwide with him being a contributing author in other publications since. Birger became the centre of often volatile controversy about the use of facilitated communication as a valid form of communication for functionally non-verbal people with autism.

Este libro es increible. Lo leí por un trabajo del instituto y muchos años despues sigo recordando todo lo que aprendí con él. La vida de una persona autista es durísima y esta es una de las pocas ocasiones en las que podemos verificar que sienten las persones que sufren esta enfermedad. Es desgarrador y fantástico a la vez. Y la evolución del autor es increible.
Una lectura recomendadísima si te interesa el tema de las enfermedades rares que aún hoy en día siguien siendo bastante desconocidas.

Un relato impactante desde el punto de vista de una persona autista, sus sentimientos hacia si mismo, su familia y su entorno. Invita a una reflexión y disculpa pública como profesionales en el campo, por los muchos errores que cometemos aunque sea inconscientemente. Si tienen oportunidad deben leerlo.

Hm, eine Bewertung abzugeben, ist mir bei diesem Buch einfach nicht möglich. Ich bin keine Expertin, um ein Urteil darüber zu fällen, ob Birger diese Text hundertprozentig selbst verfasst hat oder in wie weit die Person, die im beim Schreiben stützte, einen eigenen Einfluss auf den Inhalt ausübte. Wenn zweiteres der Fall wäre, möchte ich dieser Person auch nicht unterstellen, es bewusst oder absichtlich getan zu haben. Selbst wenn durch die Worte mehr die Mutter als der Sohn sprechen sollte, ist es keineswegs abwegig, dass ein Autist sein Dasein so empfindet. In dieser Hinsicht fand ich dieses Buch auf jeden Fall sensibilisierend. Es regt zum Nachdenken an sowie zum weiterem Studium dieser nach wie vor Rätsel aufgebenden Wahrnehmungsstörung.

Ein sehr lehrreiches Buch. Die Texte sind wunderbar geschrieben. Man merkt wie schwer es für Birger war zu schreiben und wie er gekämpft hat. Das Buch hat mich berührt und man bekommt einen tiefen Einblick in das innere eines Autisten. Es klärt einen auf. Die Krankheit und verschiedene Beispiele,Heilungen usw. werden dargestellt. Doch die Texte von Birger zeigen wohl am besten, wie sich ein „kastenmensch“ fühlt. Die Entwicklung von Birger ist unfassbar. Trotz Rückschlägen, Verzweiflungen und noch vielen anderen Hürden hat er immer wieder zu seinem Kampfgeist und Wille zurück gefunden. Er möchte die Krankheit besiegen und ich habe keine Zweifel, dass er eines Tages alle seine Wünsche war werden lässt.

En este libro podemos conocer a Birger, un chico con TEA que, pese a ser mudo desde los 2 años, tiene un extraordinario mundo interior el cual expresa a través de la escritura.

En el libro podemos ver desde sus primeros párrafos hasta los más recientes. En ellos vemos cómo ha evolucionado su escritura, así como su mismo proceso para comunicarse. Para poder observar estos aspectos, se mantienen los textos originales (con sus faltas de ortografia e incoherencias léxicas) y las fechas de los relatos.

En los relatos podemos conocer a un Birger que se siente "un hombre cobarde pero un autista valiente", contento de poder expresarse y aún más de que alguien le lea, pero mostrando una pena tremenda al sentirse totalmente excluido de la sociedad.

Es un texto que, sin duda, da que pensar.

The foreward was a tad outdated as it was written many years ago, although I believe it still presents a relevant issue and information for those unfamiliar with behaviors of those with autism. Hearing thoughts from Birger and his experience with life was very important and provides insight into his challenges.

BRU-TAL

Es un libro con el que se te pone la piel de gallina. Está tan bien escrito, tan lleno de sentimiento y lo recomiendo al 100%, sobre todo a la gente interesada en el Autismo. Ves una clara evolución, entiendes su mundo mucho más y tiene una muy buena introducción (algo muy importante para mí en este tipo de libros) para entender todo mejor. Totalmente recomendable, en serio.
