In “Diagnosis Is Not Death,” a review in Tablet by Sarah Ivry: “Illness does not always rob us of our spirit …and Schecter…finds in Judaism a sense of nurturing that… she didn’t realize she craved….I not only want to make peace with my illness, I want to sanctify it."

This is a fascinating story about a brave little girl who saves the members of her tribe from a pack of raiding Apaches. The story is interesting, not too long, and there are plenty of illustrations, usually with one page of narrative and one full-page illustration. It's a great book for children who are just starting out reading chapter books or for parents to read aloud with their children. We really enjoyed reading this story together.
