Segers experiments with technique and media are somewhat interesting -- but only somewhat. Many of his efforts weren't that successful. He wasn't very influential. And, frankly, he wasn't a first-rate artistic talent. Unless one is possessed of a particular interest in 17th-century Dutch etching, there's probably no reason to know him.

My favorites of his works are his etchings with additional colors painted on.

"Mountain valley with fenced fields" etching and drypoint with added bodycolor or oil paint.

What are gravid, pallid furrows for? Mining and reclining, or. Hiding seeds beneath your floor. Giving voice to grains.
