This is the first Christian Romance Fiction book I have read in almost 25 years. I'm not sure why because it was such a pleasurable spiritually fulfilling experience. I loved the modern take to a Christian teenage views on dating. I am 50 and this book opened my eyes to a Christian way of dealing with adult problems with friends, family, marriage... Regardless of your age, gender, or hardships, this book can relate.
Laurel and her longtime boyfriend are looking forward to their senior year. As the semester begins, Branson starts to pressure Laurel into going on to the next step in their relationship. He tells Laurel that he's not getting what he wants and that if she doesn’t give it to him, he knows plenty of girls who will.
Every guy wanted to date Laurel and every girl wanted to date Branson, but everyone is out of luck because Laurel and Branson wanted each other. Laurels' parents always taught her to save her virginity for marriage. Brittany was Laurel's best friend and she was jealous of their relationship.
Laurel has always wanted to join the National Gymnastics Team. She is working really hard to reach her goal and to receive a gymnastics scholarship to the school of her choice. As the semester goes, Branson is telling how much he loves her and cares for her, but he's not getting what he physically wants.
Will Laurel succumb to her long-time boyfriend’s pressures and lose her virginity or will she obey God commandments and keep her promise to her mother and stay pure till marriage?
Purity Reigns is about trusting God and prayer. You have to believe God for whatever you need. Mrs. Moore also lets us know that sex is not the way to go.
Foster is a very good example of a good Christian. He is always there for Laurel whenever she is in trouble. "Purity Reigns" is a very good book. It touched my heart and my soul. I hope that Mrs. Moore continues to write more of these books.
I liked this book but Laurel is kind of a Mary Sue which is really a turn off for me. Sure she's a Christian but she's also kind of a judgemental goody two shoes who even called her own friends spoiled at one time. This book reads the same exact way as the Peyton Skyy series which this book is a spin off of.
I've been married for just shy of 20 years, so the theme of this book is totally non-applicable to me, and thus I found the book very annoying. It's teenage drama at its finest, but from a Christian perspective. I will hand it over to each of my daughters to read one day though because sometimes some things only sink in when written from a novel perspective.
I found this quite nauseating. The issues discussed were good, but they could have been done better. And the way Laurel turns around and goes, "Oh forgive me for that, Lord" EVERY SINGLE TIME... well, it's what you should do, but i found it so tough to get through this book.
Picked it up because of the gymnast on the front cover. Cheesy but mostly because I'm 21. It actually was a really good book for encouraging teens to save themselves for their spouse. I would let my kid read this.
