Illustrated with black and white photographs, this is the second volume of stories collected by Vaughan from the men who worked on the GWR from its heyday in 1892 to its demise in 1947.
The author is good at setting the scene for various working life anecdotes and stories throughout, though the majority seem milder than those in Grub, Water & Relief - the result of an extra 50 years embellishment as the tales were passed down through the ranks? Definitely worth a read, the Shrivenham accident stood out in particular.
