To his headhunter neighbors, John Paton was Elijah and Moses wrapped up in one. When John Paton left Scotland to become a missionary to the South Pacific in the late 1800s, he dared an island's chief priests to prove their gods by placing a death curse on him. The failure of their curse brought support for his ministry from some, murderous ambushes from others. When Paton dug a well and provided "water from a rock," it was a clear miracle in the sight of the islanders. From that time forward people turned to the Lord. The courageous adventures of a daring missionary, told afresh in this updated and condensed autobiography
Wow….what an amazing man of God! An amazing story of God’s faithfulness and a man’s unrelenting desire to see the lost come to know the Savior. Unbelievable book
This was an absolutely incredible read. The faith and courage of John Paton will encourage any reader. From his faithful witness, his statement proves true: “A man is immortal until his masters work with him is complete”. A missionary to the Cannibals John Paton was, but a hero of the faith he is now. This book is read like a thriller, but the whole story is true. Would recommend to anyone wanting to see the life and legacy of a man consecrated to the furthering of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
