One of my favourite books. I've never come across one that captures the magic of a place in words. A lyrical and poetic topographical biography of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, a place I have visited many times over the years, and recently moved so I live in sight of its hills. This book has been in print for over 20 years and there is nothing quite like it.
For those who love Purbeck, or are curious about its history and atmosphere, I heartily recommend it.
