Edward Burman nació en Cambridge en 1947.

Bit "fluffy" (no footnotes, etc.) but readable. Has suggestions for places to visit for the tourist and some nice photos.

It was an entertaining couple hours to read and I did learn about these families but I would not recommend if you were writing a paper for school or something else academic.

A good overview of the dominant families of Italy but the structure is its downfall. By separating each family, their interplay is downgraded or has to be repeated in several sections. There are a good range of illustrations but only in black and white. Perhaps more useful as a reference book than a single read.

Inspirational. Not in a positive way. Fascinating. Not overly scholarly, but solidly researched. With a travel log, so you can see the literal scene of the crime.
