Ascent to the Stars

Rate this book
The Lady Star
A talented young actress, Coventry Pearce had played more roles than she could remember. But none had prepared her for the part of a real-life heroine wrapped up in a daring rescue mission - and caught in the delicious embrace of a tempting stranger.

The Star Man
For Trace, the assignment should have been simple. Any Thadonian warrior could take a helpless female to safety in exchange for valuable information against his diabolical enemies. But as fiery as a supernova, as radiant as a sun, Coventry was no mere woman. Even as he raced across the galaxy to save his doomed world, Trace battled to deny a burning desire that would take him to the heavens and beyond.

Tiern Rainon, aka, Trace, belongs to a world far from our own. Trace's government has contracted him out to a government agency of Earth to be a "tracker" and locate missing people and things. No one knows of his special warrior talents though. Behind the scenes, and unbeknownst to anyone on earth, Trace is investigating a conspiracy to conquer and overthrow his own government and subjugate his people by an unknown faction on earth working with a traitor in his own government. The key to finding these co-conspirators lies with Dalton Pearce who has gained key information, and risked his life to get it to Trace. Dalton has not only placed his own life in jeopardy, but the life of his only immediate family member as well, his sister, Coventry Pearce. Desperate to protect her from these ruthless criminals, Dalton trades his valuable information for Trace's promise to protect and escort Coventry to safety on his own world, Thadonia. Of course, Coventry has no idea her life and world is about to change forever when she receives a note from her brother requesting her help. Thrown into the dangerous world of espionage and conspiracy, she has no choice but to accept the protection and ultimatums given to her by Trace. Coventry is nothing that a woman should be in Trace's mind. His goal is just to get her safely out of harms way and back to Thadonia while delivering the vital information that Dalton has promised. However, Trace's promise of protection turns into something altogether different and quite unexpected.
Christine Michels has woven a futuristic fantasy involving a unique alien world. Very entertaining from the characters, to the fantastical future earth, and the romantically medieval Thadonia. It was an action packed story with a fiery romance. I would actually rate this romance as a 3.5 because I enjoyed it more than an average romance, but one reading is sufficient. Definitely unique and worth the read.

I am a Christine Michels fan. I think I’ve read all of her books–a few of them more than once. This was the first of hers that I read, and I loved it. Combine a suspenseful plot with an alpha hero, a steamy spaceship romance, and totally realistic descriptions of a futuristic Earth and, the alien world, Thadonia, and you have one terrific read!

This is the first time I have read this author, I will definitely look for her other books. Great character building and a realistic introduction to futuristic earth. An action packed story that was hard to put down.

This book was okay, but not one that I would probably read again.
