Outstanding M/M Vampire Erotica! I loved it. It was so HOT! What a page turner, I wanted more and more. It was cute how it ended too.

I'm glad the vampires of Waikiki (brother "Div" and sister "Kalani")found their mates.

I thought Kalani and Clancy were perfect for each other. I loved how Jimmy/Div was one hell of a man who took care of his lover now mate Tem. He even took care of Tem's brother Todah and I respected him for that.

All the characters were such a hoot and Ilaughed outloud and smiled from ear to ear in several parts of the book. Excelent job.

A Vampire in Waikiki was not what I was expecting it to be. The protagonist, Jimmy, is a vampire and a porn star. I know, really, can a character get much more fun than that? Aside from that though, he is also sweet, loving and incredibly loyal. I found myself thoroughly enjoying Jimmy’s character and being amused by his porn star side.

Jimmy meets Tem (porn star name Angelis) at the gym, where Tem propositions Jimmy about starring in gay porn movies. Until this point in his very long vampire life, Jimmy had never been with a man. Honestly though, not a bad way to quickly assure yourself that you’re bi or gay. Nothing says not exactly straight like bangin’ boys on camera.

Things rapidly begin to change for Jimmy, when he finds himself not just screwing Tem for pay, but craving him. Craving him the way you crave another when you’re first falling in love. Jimmy and Tem begin seeing one another off-set, when Jimmy discoverers that Tem’s brother, Todah, is away in a mental hospital and will be released from there soon. He quickly figures out that Todah is not crazy, but cursed and haunted by a ghost dog. Yeah, a ghost dog. Why not? There is a porn star vampire with a lesbian sister, who is mating her brother’s ex-lover, and some off her rocker bitch claiming to be pregnant with an undead’s baby. A ghost dog seems rather reasonable in this very strange, wonderful world A.J. Llewellyn created.

Now, all Jimmy has to do is find a way to get rid of the ghost dog, tell his current lover he’s a vamp and wants him to be his life mate, wed his sister’s lesbian mate to keep her from being deported and live happily ever after.

This story was only the second A.J. Llewellyn book I've read, but I have to say, I'm looking forward to reading more of his work very soon.

DEFINITELY loved this book. I'm hesitating to put in my favorites only because I usually reserve that for books I've read twice and loved just as much both times ... but I have no doubts that "A Vampire in Waikiki" will end up there soon.

The first few pages started out in the middle of a scene and WOW, it just didn't let go from there. I read it in a span of three-sits over 4 hours not because I skimmed it but rather because I COULD NOT put it down. This is one of those that I'd probably have stayed awake 'til 2 in the morning reading [which is saying a lot, for me:].

My only notes: the change of names and nicknames kind of got on my nerves a bit - including 'darling' 'honey' 'my love' and the switch from Jimmy to Div, from Angelis to Tem [Although I DID like the latter change:].

And the Hawaiian references - great and really grounding, reminding the reader where the novel is taking place, but the over-abundance of them bogged me down because I'm not a native. It was also disconcerting that a few of the names were constantly italicized while others were not; I kept automatically stressing them because they were italicized [you know, in that internal dialogue you have:] and would stumble over it EVERY TIME. argh.

Still, not enough to ruin the book. Oh, and I love Moonlight at the end. Cute wrap-up, involving him. ^_^

Both a QGB Q2 Challenge pick by Kerrin and part of my April Category Challenge; this is my first book by A.J. Llewellyn and I am glad I started with this particular series. It had just the right amount of all my favourite elements: sex, humour, mystery and romance. It is an interesting cast of characters and I look forward to getting to know them better. Tem in diva bitch mode is hilarious, and Div just is delicious hedonistic fun. The story sucked me in and I kept reading until it came to an end then I grabbed my credit card and bought the other books in the series (series junkie that I am)!

O-M-G! This was a freaking FANGTASTIC read! I mean, seriously, holy sexcapades people. A Vampire in Waikiki had me majorly D-R-I-P-P-I-N-G! I honestly didn't think that I'd like it as much as I did but it was absolutely fabulous. How could it not be with a beginning like this?

My name is Thunder, Jimmy Thunder. I adore women, but I f8ck men. They call it gay-for-pay. I call it the best damned way to make a living that I know of - tons of sweat, not much work.

It was Angelis, on the floor now sucking my c*ck as if it was the last one on the earth, who recruited me, who suggested I give it a try. He knew of my lady killer reputation, and when he caught a glimpse of my c*ck in Kalakaua Avenue gym shower one day he said, "man, you'd make a fortune in porn." My sexual appetite being as voracious as it was, and my lifestyle so secretive, I figured I'd do a few movies, screw some hot chics... and bail. But it was gay porn Angelis was talking about and I found myself intrigued.

I don't read a lot of M/M romances, not to mention M/M/M or M/M/M/M LOL! I also don't read a lot of male authors. You don't really see a lot of them writing romances now do you? A.J. Llewellyn is different though. The way he made me feel while reading this book was unbelievable. I was so into this book that I couldn't put it down. I haven't felt that way in a while about a book.

Though OUTRAGEOUSLY HOT, the best thing about this book was the relationship between Jimmy (aka Div) and Angelis (aka Tem). It was truly mind-blowing and filled with tons of romance. I loved watching the bond between the men grow. It was more captivating than the basic romance novel. I guess that just serves to show us that love cam bloom between any gender (Sorry, I had to put that in there *giggle*). Jimmy's behavior towards Tem was very alpha maleish but at the same time it was very sweet. His behavior wasn't at all overbearing like a lot of alpha males can be.

Coming in second on the awesomeness meter was the SEXINESS of this book. As you can tell, it really got my motor going. If you read this be sure to have an extra pair of panties nearby because there is no doubt that the one you'll have on will get soaked!

A Vampire in Waikiki is a great starter book for people ready to dip their toes into the M/M genre IMHO. Though it's filled with a ton of sex scenes - they are porn stars after all - it's the relationship between our heroes that's important. A.J. Llewellyn has seriously opened my eyes to the potential of male authors and M/M romance.

Weird things that came to mind while reading this...

A.J. Llewellyn lives in California but LOVES the Hawaiian Islands so he fills his stories with little tidbits of Hawaiian culture, including words. When the word ohana appeared all I could think of was Lilo and Stitch LOL. I also thought of Juno and Thelma & Louise.

It was too cool that they drank Absinthe! You never hear about that stuff.

DUDE! Who the hell has heard of the bathtub method to test if a man has been cheating? I wonder if it's true? If it is, I'll have to remember that for future reference!

*This book contains rimming, anal, M/M, menage - M/M/M, group sex - M/M/M/M, voyeurism and exhibitionism.

The thought of a vampire named Jimmy Thunder doing gay-for-pay in Hawaii, no less, pretty much sucked me right into this story. That's the premise behind 'A Vampire in Waikiki' by A.J. Llewellyn and I couldn't wait to read it. I like a good vamp story and I certainly enjoy this author's writing so I figured it was a win-win for me.

Jimmy is living a few secretive lives. He's from a family of cursed vampires, he's a skirt chaser, and now he's a gay-for-pay porn star at night. His on-again, off-again girlfriend is a freak, to say the least. He's constantly having to retrieve her from opium dens or brothels where she's disappeared to when she gets mad at Jimmy. Angelis recruited Jimmy to the porn business and much to Jimmy's amazement, he's loving having sex with the very hot Angelis, even going so far as to continue off camera at Angelis's place. Even better is he's falling in love with Tem, or Angelis which is his porn name.

This book was so horribly ridiculous I just had to stop at the 68% mark. It started off pretty decently, as time went it stared to decline. It’s probably just me since so many people have enjoyed this book. I feel that there’s just too much missing from the storyline and Tem’s line of thought is not rational (yes even for a PNR).

This was a wild ride, but I'm not sure it was for me. I think there might have been a light hearted, almost feel good story somewhere in between all the sex scenes and I did like that. But I grew pretty tired of all the damn sex. It is a book about porn stars though, so I don't know what I was expecting.

Wow this was pretty much porn with a little bit of vampire thrown in. Not that I didn't expect some amount of sex (leads are porn stars) but the amount and the cheesy dialog made this was a tough one to read through.

So over the top, especially the prose. How many different creative ways to refer to a man’s member had me snickering and rolling my eyes. His juicy fruit, pork sausage...only to mention a few. Lots of porn, little plot, and over the top prose. And I enjoyed every bit of it!

I'm quite amazed by this author's range. He really grabbed me with this story of an ancient vampire living in Waikiki, cursed by his grandfather's gambling debts by an old kahuna who way back when modified the curse to allow Jimmy Thunder the chance one day to fall in love.
He's an unusual vampire because he craves love and companionship...and food.
His passion for sex leads him to agreeing to shoot some gay porn when approached by gay porn stud Angelis. Jimmy's first foray into having sex with Angelis for the cameras leads him to find what's been missing for him with women.
Saddled with a a mess of a girlfriend and various loose ends in her life, Jimmy finds himself intoxicated by Angelis, whose real name is Tem.
Tem has a brother and they are close but mysterious things are going on there. It seems the brother has been possessed by an ancient curse of his own, a ghost dog. Jimmy sees the ectoplasm in Tem's home and vows to protect the man he now loves.
Interwoven with this story are moments of laugh-out-loud humor, hot sex (man, oh man, it's HOT) and some Hawaiian history.
Really a remarkable book. Just loved it. I have snatchd up the others in the series and am already on book 4.

Take a womanizing, gay for pay porn star vampire recruited by the sluttiest bottom in gay porn movies, throw in a possessed brother, a vampire sister in love with the womanizers girlfriend, a psycho ex-girlfriend and a vampire queen named Blossom, and you have Waikiki Vampires. Absolutely love them. I am not sorry I read this series way out of order, because it gives me an excuse to read it again. The phrase "he was having a party in my pants" made me smile every time. There is just something about these guys that makes for a funny, interesting read. And the sex is varied, often and so hot.

In this very unique vampire romance, Div aka Jimmy Thunder, is a gay for pay porn-star who falls for his co-star Tem aka Angelis. There is a lot – A LOT – of other drama to be sorted out between ex girlfriends and ex mates and current girl-friends and a sister who then dates the ex girlfriend…
A lot of drama.

Eventually, Div owns up to being a vampire and converts Tem. Kalani, Div’s vampire sister, ends up with a mate of her own and everyone ends up happily ever after.

**

This is a book that I think you will either love or … well… not. It is very erotic, lots of sex – obviously with porn stars and all – but also very tender.

The drama and the exes can be exhausting and for me a little overwhelming to the main love story. Maybe because this is the start of a series there is a lot of back story involved…time will tell.

Though there is no doubt that Tam and Div love each other, I didn’t love how their story played out – a little too “open” in terms of relationships – and I didn’t really like seeing them having so much on page sex with other partners.

In the end it was a unique look at the world of vampires and a nice love story for those looking for something really different.

Maybe I should have expected this to be a book with a ton of sex and not much more but I didn't. I thought there would be more of a plot and more humor - after all vampire porn star - it just sounds humorous. However, this one didn't work for me at all. It was almost non-stop sex and it got boring. The characters gave me a bit of whip lash at times and I found Angelis to be whiney, OTT emotional about some things when I just never got where he was coming from. Jimmy wasn't much better. Very little vampire stuff although I did crack up at Jimmy's sleeping place when he didn't get back home in time. Honestly, I just didn't think the vampire side and the porn side meshed together well. Not for me and not a series I plan to continue.

I really struggled with this. On so many different levels. Mostly it was the writing. It was too... all the things: OTT, insta-love, predictable, childish humor, whiney characters, and too much sex. The author clearly wanted to write about a very specific locale and very specific people, and there is absolutely no problem with that. However, this went into way too many stereotypes and way too much detail into things like food. Really took away from the story throughout.
"Where are we going?" he asked, the voices of monkeys from the zoo chiming in our ears. We both laughed, as if they knew we were up to... monkey business.

Contradictory as well. For example, this was essentially one statement after the other:
"But I'm not allowed to see him."
[...]
"Tem, I'm so glad you told me. But don't you think we should fly there and visit him?"

A lot of sex was expected. I mean, it's about a couple porn stars. But there is just so much focus on the sex and how Jimmy was just so surprised and consumed with all thoughts of sex with Tem. Not only all of that but... Jimmy is supposedly over 100 years old! We're seriously trying to be sold that he's never experimented with gay sex? No one male has ever attracted his attention before? Tem inviting him into the gay porn industry is the only way this was going to happen? I absolutely did not buy that.

And all a sudden his sister and his girlfriend are gay too? Um, okay. Sidenote on that bit: it was super weird how Kalani was pushing so hard to get her brother to chat with Clancy about her. It was so sudden and she didn't seem to care what he was going through; even when the plot actually did have something happen, even when they're supposed to be there for each other.

Tem and Jimmy's relationship is supposed to be many things. It's supposed to be sexy, cute, funny, surprising and end-all-be-all. It was cringey on many accounts.
1) The supposed cuteness of when Jimmy drops Tem off at his place after their date but then keeps circling back whenever Tem keeps calling him, waiting outside his home. Then they have to kiss, say goodbye again, kiss, goodbye... Think this happens at least three times before Tem doesn't call back the last time Jimmy "leaves" so Jimmy turns around on his own and then goes on inside to Tem's room when he isn't waiting outside for him this last time. They kiss, etc. again and then finally part, pushing Jimmy's timeframe for his barely mentioned vampirism, although I did appreciate where he slept...
2) I guess the above kinda counts for this one but... Their banter. It's soo bad. Like the (further) above "monkey business" the joking and inuendoes are so childish/juvenile that it was painful. Part of me wishes that I had more examples of this but most of me is very glad I don't!
3) The way that Jimmy talks about his first love. It's... I guess, endearing? towards the beginning. It is at least more heartfelt; that Jimmy actually did care for her and thought fondly. Then it's brought up with Tem as the only time that Jimmy's actually loved anyone else and the only reason that her photo is still in existence/in his possession is because only his true love can tear the photo. I hated it. Her memory suddenly became so disrespectful. Especially with Jimmy apparently being over 100 years old, it should be celebrated or at least appreciated that he had at least one other love in his lifespan no matter the outcome. Not only all that but then it's once again all degraded down to sex.
Tem nodded. "One final thing." He picked up the photo of my long-dead-love and tore it into pieces. "You are gonna bottom for me. Right now, and on camera. I want the world to know your ass belongs to me."
4) I was about to go on. But... I'm rather done with this much longer review than I meant it to be. I am going to end on one - if not the worst - part of their relationship (and/or Jimmy) to me:
Tem smelled as fantastic as ever. It was all I could do not to drag him to the back seat and rape him.
I mean... What. The. Actual. Fuck. I think it was going for so-sexy-I-can't-resist. Instead, it went too far. Even if things had been actually sexy (spoiler: they definitely were not), this was a hard stop. Completely threw me for a loop, completely out of the story; almost threw my Kindle down - almost completely stopped reading again. If I could DNF, I would have right there.

The bit with the ghost once the brother comes back is actually interesting while it happens. Blossom had her moments, Hiroshi (I think it was that helped with the ghost) too. Bits between Jimmy, Tem, Kalani and Clancy were sometimes fun enough (and sometimes super weird) and I appreciated how close Jimmy and Kalani were. Vampirism seemed irrelevant here except to be a tool for other things but whatever.

Random nickname from Tem to Jimmy when he found out his given name was super random. You'd think the sister would already have. Or there'd at least be some sort of discussion between Jimmy and Tem about the name-to-nickname instead.

Did not appreciate how Kalani lost her horse, and it seemed like it was just a tool to try and bring her and Clancy closer and/or for an excuse to get two horses instead as if that could just replace the one... It was just too glossed over.

In summation: Wish I could DNF. At least this filled a challenge spot. Will not be picking up this author again. So hard to find a good vampire book these days...

A fun, sweet, lusty romance. A. J. LLewellen has more words and phrases to substitute for "cock" than any erotic author I've read to date and almost all of them made me laugh. My personal favorite "juicyfruit".

If you'd love to have an insider's view of shooting a gay porn movie this will show you just how cheap they are to make. :-) I really enjoyed both the main characters and the secondary characters added a lot to the story as well. Loved it and will read more from this author.

So disappointed that it wasn't better. The writing and plot were too simple for my tastes and I wasn't invested in any of the characters. I did complete the book hoping it would improve, but it just never appealed to me, so I won't be reading more about these characters in the future.

Awesome Story & Listen🎧 Fascinating & Smoking🔥Hot!

A Vampire in Waikiki
Vampire in Waikiki, Book 1
By: A.J. Llewellyn
Narrated by: Michael Dean

This audiobook was a delight to listen to, the story swept me right in capturing my attention and holding the entire time. This is my second book written by A.J. Llewellyn, she is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style and the characters and storylines she created. It is great to see another side of her imaginative mind in this steamy paranormal romance. I adored the two lead characters, Jimmy Thunder and Tem aka Angelis, the intro to these two and the opening scene of the book is smoking hot. Agnelis had gotten a glimpse of Jimmy when he was showering in the gym’s shower and told him about starring in porn, gay for pay porn which he did despite having a girlfriend. Turned out to be something he liked, a lot. Jimmy felt a connection with Angelis on the set and the chemistry between them was electric. They started seeing each other off of the set, Jimmy realized there was something special about Tem and that he wanted more but first he would have to explain to him what he was. Jimmy was not ordinary man, he is a vampire and not even an ordinary one. His family was cursed, he and his sister are the last of their bloodline, they live on blood but can still eat and drink human food. Jimmy ended it with his girlfriends, dumping one and finding a better lover for the other, keeping it in the family for a perfect coupling. Jimmy could sense spirits and saw there was a bad one attached to Tem’s brother, the only way to help was to bring in friends and out his supernatural ways. I loved how every thing played out in this book, the story is fast paced and there is never a dull moment. The fantasy/paranormal elements of this story as awesome as the romance and sexy times. A.J. Llewellyn, thank you for another fabulously entertaining and enjoyable story!

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Michael Dean does an awesome job bringing these characters to life and humanizing them with their emotions and personality. His portrayal of each character is spot on, he takes each role and makes it his own sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the characters emotions as well as their passion and projects them into this performance. He is a natural talent and an entertaining storyteller. It is always a pleasure to listen to to his work. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Now, this was a very good time right here, folks! With a premise that is astounding, AJ Llewellyn's 'A Vampire in Waikiki' has some of everything absolutely wonderful! However, do not assume all is fun and games with the book. The writer tackles several subjects that are serious. We encounter Jimmy Thunder--a rather hot guy who's hot for the ladies until he starts to work as a gay porn star. He discovers the joys of sex with one man in particular--his definitely gay co-star, Angelis. The relationship that develops between the two men is so sincere and truly touching but there's one catch--Jimmy Thunder and his sister are vampires as a result of a family curse that occurred a long time in the past. From a girlfriend that sells services at an opium den, to the hit put out on her for infringing on another's 'professional territory', to her claims to be pregnant with Jimmy's baby, to the other lady friend that is facing deportation, to the porn star boyfriend who has sex with other men on screen, to the demonic presence that is plaguing the boyfriend's younger brother, to the younger brother's admission that he was sexually molested by the older brother's ex-boyfriend; this story had me pacing the floor and wanting much more! The book ended with a 'happy for now' for all involved. Throughout the story, there is mention of Hawaiian culture, and elements of Asian culture are also present. For a delightful bonus, the writer describes setups for the gay porn scenes that were truly entertaining! I found myself thinking "I'd watch that for real"! Way to go, Mx. Llewellyn!

Well, that was interesting to say the least. I think my favorite moment was hands down .

I can't say I plan on continuing this series because it was a bit ridiculous, and not in a good way but...there were moments I enjoyed. I loved the culture included in this for Hawaii and the Japanese characters as well.

The possession scene was...interesting. As for the vampire "curse," that was a bit odd. I mean, it's a family curse but they're allowed to turn their one true love? Cursed to love forever? Unlikely to be the reality of a curse. Maybe I'm just overthinking things and this was meant to be lighthearted and not taken seriously.

I will say, the concept of a porn-star vampire was quite unique. Jimmy's terms of endearment for Tem and his insta-love personality was just odd. For a GFY, there wasn't nearly enough gay panic (there was literally, like, none. He just goes from a womanizer to a gay man and is totally fine with it). And I mean, his sister turns out to be a lesbian too but it took them centuries to realize they were both gay???? Okay, I'm done ranting.

Honestly, this could have been worse and I went into it with low expecations. It didn't kill me to finish it, but I can't say I'd ever recommend it to anyone. I'm not quite sure how to rate this, honestly. The writing itself wasn't terrible so I'll give it two stars for that and the obvious research made into Hawaii.

So, uh, what did I just read? A wacky and almost endearing story about a vampire who's a gay-for-pay porn star. Finds himself really liking one of the guys he's partnered with in one of the movies. Liked Jimmy Thunder and Tem. Odd couple of guys surrounded by other odd characters - loved Kalani. Clancy reminded me of those terrible harridan-like women written into so many MM romances but eventually she calmed down. The action and the situations that occur seem out of no-where. What elevated this book for me, was the detailed descriptions of Hawaii. Through the characters' eyes, you see the beauty of Waikiki - the island flowers, the food and the mix of cultures in the people. Very imaginative but it did seem a little over the top, particularly when it came to the sex. Tem and Jimmy have a LOT of sex, which is fine, but it got a little corny at times "His man meat." "His piston" Ugh! Read this for a GR challenge and appreciated the lack of extreme gore that you see in some vampire romances. At heart, though, this is a romance about found families and love, no matter human or vampire.

This story was absolutely HILARIOUS!

I really don't want to spoil any of the book.
I would recommend that all potential readers dive, feet-first, into this novel just like I did – without any prior knowledge whatsoever!

Don't do it.
Don't even read the synopsis.

The only thing I would like to add, is this:
THE FREAKIN BATHTUB METHOD.

That moment was so funny and fascinating.
People often say, "Don't try this at home", but I really want to know if it works! 😂

A sizzling hot romance between porn stars in Hawaii, one of whom happens to be a vampire and ‘straight’… the premise was interesting to say the least, and there was a lot to like here… a Gay for You trope that is pretty much angst-free, and the secondary plot that involves a demon is entertaining. This one is all about the sex and the fated mates aspect of the relationship between Jimmy and Tem (aka Angelis) and their extended family. The heat level here is turned up to 11, and there is a sweet aspect to the whole story. Jimmy in particular is an endearing character, who in his long life as a vampire is experiencing same sex attraction and love for the first time. I will be back for the sequel.
