From the author of the million-selling Come Away My Beloved comes this inspiring collection of some 150 devotional meditations. Each brief selection, written as if God is speaking directly to the reader, offers challenge and practical insight for living the Christian life, and is followed by a Scripture reference for further study. "It is not the desire of the author that this book displace God's Holy Word," Roberts writes, "but that it stimulate a hunger for a deeper appreciation of the Bible, the supreme revelation of all truth."
Frances J. Roberts was a prolific Christian author and musician best known for her devotional classic Come Away My Beloved, which has sold over a million copies and been translated into multiple languages. In 1964, she founded The King’s Press, where she wrote and published nine devotional books over three decades. A graduate of Moody Bible Institute, she served as Florida’s state director for Child Evangelism Fellowship and wrote the popular Wordless Book Song during that time. A gifted musician, she composed eighty-eight published hymns and worked as a church accompanist. Her ministry work also included teaching at a Spanish mission school and contributing to music ministries across various congregations.
The language with which this devotional is penned is the language of my Father.
It is not a light, pat on the back that sends you off in the morning and leaves you in shallow water. This is a devotional where you will soar on some days, but you will also find yourself drawn into deep waters and at much needed moments, confronted with the struggles and sin of your heart and chastened back to your God.
It will challenge you, inspire you, affirm you and rebuke you. Will you have the courage to open its cover and hear Him speak to YOU?
I have read through this three times now. I love it! It’s a devotional that to me just feels like a sweet precious time with Jesus. So many times I pick it up and it is so relevant to exactly what I’m going through or feeling! I have also read her Come Away my beloved Which is also beautiful but written in old English so a little harder to understand
Have been reading this GEM of a book everyday since May 20, 2009; through the pages of coffee stains and tea stains are words in which God does a MIGHTY work in us IF WE ALLOW HIM TO DO SO. One of my favorite books of all time, aside from the Holy Bible. -- A gift from Debbie Rivard -- thank you Debbie!
Surrendering was overwhelming when I first chose this as my word for the year. However, as I have read through this book and realize, I surrender what is in front of me, today, I have a peace about surrender. Thank you Jesus.
