Flint Henry's artwork has graced the pages of many comic companies over the years, including First, DC, and Marvel. From Grimjack to ManBat, his interpretations of standard superhero fare have always been darker and more twisted than most. There s a very good reason for that. He s darker, and more twisted! With an inky-black sense of the macabre and a devilish delight in detail, Flint can create some of the most nightmarish and densely disturbing images imaginable - but all with a sly wink! As horrifying as the subject or as maddening the situation, you can always hear the low rumble of a chuckle, as if to say "oh, just kidding!". In this first collection of his drawings, Hellfire stares into the abyss of Flint's intricate delirium, and refuses to blink! Foreword by noted comic writer Chuck Dixon.
Oh dear who thought this up? A scrapbook of images albeit in a neat paperback does not in my opinion offer a decent representation of the excellent art I enjoy in 2000AD. It is a slight effort and took up no more of my time than about twenty minutes... and what was the rather ordinary comic strip doing here? Perhaps it is copyright or something but I wish that I had been able to get a preview of this book. That's the trouble of buying unseen online rather than in a shop... eight quid wasted I reckon... ho hum back to the comics then... hmm.
