Immersionplus French Complete: The Final Step to Fluency!

Rate this book
Each program consists of a variety of entertaining dialogues introduced briefly in English, and then spoken entirely in the target foreign language. The vignette is first heard at a normal conversational rate, then at a slower rate to aid comprehension. The same dialogue is then repeated at the normal conversational rate used by native speakers.

If I really wanted to, I would listen to this again, perhaps without distraction and maybe with the visual guide I think might come with it as a package (since I remember having difficulty with français orthography when I turned anything in for Mademoiselle to grade throughout my schooling) - I am reviewing only the audio recording, which seems friendly and helpful enough. This recording is only in French - it sounds like it is of a gentleman, perhaps in his twenties or thirties. There is also the sound of a lady who sounds like she may be in the same age range.

Naturally, whenever I have to communicate in this language, say, when I'm discussing politics on FB or the like, I try to verify whatever I'm trying to say with Google Translate, but this honestly was cute. (I think positively of Hollande and Macron! Vive la France!)
I just found it too much all at once, however...

I personally am not in the immersion camp when it comes to learning new languages, even if I did do the Chinese thing x years ago. (It was a political gambit.) Not being fond of immersion is the reason I gave this a lower rating. (I dip my toe in to check and make sure my languages aren't too hot or too cold!) I found this an interesting way to spend a morning.
Yet still, I don't think I will further investigate the doodads from Penton Overseas.

You may, of course, if this fits in your bag. À votre guise, Google Translate suggested might be "at your leisure..."

I liked the English set-up of the situation. I also liked that the conversation was repeated 3 times: 1 time at normal speed, once at a slower speed, and one more time at normal speed. If I didn't get something the 1st time the slower version helped then again at normal speed.
I'm not ready for this level. I didn't understand all of this.
I will have to listen to this again at the beginning of next year to see my progress. As of July 17 I'd say I understood 50% of all the words but only got about 10% of the context.

Immersion all the way! It may feel as if you've been dumped in on the deep end, but relax into the experience. You are learning more than you realize. The conversations are first presented in an artificially slow manner and then in a normal speed. Your brain doesn't have time to fret over vocabulary as it jumps to understanding
