Quite informative. I went out to listen to the little buggers last night and again this morning. Again, it is only the male that makes the deafening noise. You would think it would be the female as most of the male species have little to say. It is for mating purposes of course that's usually the way it is; then they can talk a blue streak. But I digress, they make noise, mate and then die. I could digress again but I won't. They produce by the millions because they are so tasty to other critters. Even our dogs and cats like to eat them. My dogs both agreed they taste like chicken.
