For those on the firing line in pulpits, classes, study groups and Bible fellowship clusters here is a distinctly different kind of commentary. The communicator's Commentary combined rich resources of historical setting and textual interpretation with spiritual insights and contemporary illustrations.
Dr. D. Stuart Briscoe is an evangelical Christian author, international speaker and the former senior pastor of Elmbrook Church, in Brookfield, Wisconsin
At first I found this book not interesting. I put it aside. When I came back to the book I really enjoyed the book. Briscoe says "the strong person is the one who is free in areas of God-given freedom and sees no need to build regulations around his freedom, while the weak brotheris the one who feels that he needs help in the area of freedom and adds principles which of themselves may be quite right but which are not biblical in orgin."
I used this commentary in conjunction with my study of Romans. I once had the privilege of hearing both Pastor Briscoe and his wife Jill speak at a Christian Medical and Dental conference. They are both wonderful and have such great accents since they are English.
The commentary was very nice and shed light on passages I was studying each week.
