Flint is ready to give the brat fighting him to the Indians as he pushes the lad over the next waterfall. Once rinsed of mud, he discovers the frail boy is one nicely shaped woman. Learning his employer intends to marry of the girl, his Darlin', with the indentured women, he marries her himself suspecting he has gone from the frying pan and into the fire. Marrying Allen Flint isn't as disturbing to Joleen as discovering she is in 1713. Dare she examine her feelings toward the mountain of a man, now a part of hr life? Can she survive the wilds of the American Frontier? When Indians capture Flint, Joleen prays she possesses the strength to save the man she loves from certain death. Time brought her to him, but Joleen realizes only their magic can hold them together, now.
I did enjoy the plot but it was a little choppy. Only issue I had with it was that the main female just accepted that she found herself in the situation she was in. No trying to get back and not missing modern times.
Genre: Labeled as “ Time Travel Sensual Romance” My Rating 5 of 5 This is a truly marvelous adventure romance! The first Chapter is entitled “Wild Ride” and that is where this book takes the reader - on a fast flowing ride that I didn’t want to put down.
Jolene is a current day young woman who grew up with her Grandfather in the Smokey Mountains. After an accident she wakes up in 1713 Colonial America. She is soon facing savage Indians and the struggles of a wagon train heading to settle in the wild Louisiana Territory.
Allen Flint is the 6'3" rugged trail guide and mountain man who finds the injured Jolene. As they make their escape from dangerous Indians, he begins to admire her perseverance and courage. At first Jolene isn’t aware of the time she is in nor how much danger she is in as a woman alone. To save her from being sold at auction to the men of the wagon train, Flint puts her in a position that she must marry him. His “Darlin’” isn’t too happy about these arrangements, but she quickly learns to trust and love Flint.
While trying to get themselves and the settlers safely to the land that has been promised, Flint and Jolene must escape brutal Indians. They are especially threatened by the Indian leader who has decided that he must have Jolene after being impressed by her intelligence, ingenuity and passion.
I really liked Jolene who is compassionate as well as intelligent and strong and Flint who is just the sort of man that a woman would want in the untamed wilderness - or any place! In addition to these wonderfully portrayed characters the action is pretty much nonstop.
The love scenes are passionate and what I would term as erotic (with some pretty blunt nouns) but they are beautifully written. The adventure and romance are top notch but I forewarn the reader regarding the language and love scenes that might not be completely comfortable for everyone.
