These books all have a weird turn to them. It's heavily implied all these Hauntley Manor characters are monsters of some kind. When the kids become convinced the new visitor in question is a monster terrorizing the neighbourhood...their gut reaction then becomes to protect the monsters? They conclude a baby is a blood sucking monster...and they want to stop another kid from having them chased out of town? Makese no sense. And the plots all resolve themselves with the person just leaving of their own accord. The build up is always good but the stories are so formulaic and end so nonsensically.
The Hauntley's have a new guest at their Inn. Little baby Bathilda. The kids are convinced she is a vampire and the one responsible for the holes in their bike tires and soccer balls. Only is she? Cute.
