Darrell Schweitzer is an American writer, editor, and essayist in the field of speculative fiction. Much of his focus has been on dark fantasy and horror, although he does also work in science fiction and fantasy.
Schweitzer is also a prolific writer of literary criticism and editor of collections of essays on various writers within his preferred genres.
Schweitzer's conversational style and sharp insights and analysis make for a great review of Dunsany's career and body of work. I've read a few volumes of Dunsany's early fantasy, and Schweitzer's exploration helped me understand why I enjoyed The Last Book of Wonder so much less than Time and the Gods. I've wanted to read more by Dunsany, but didn't know where to start, and now I've got a guide to direct me to what I'm more likely to enjoy from this prolific writer.
