This older picture book is still quite sweet, although obviously dated. Stock does lovely watercolors, and one can see how far she has come over the years.

Children who are quite enamored with their own birthdays and others will enjoy the theme.

When the little boy attends his friend’s fourth birthday party, it turns out that what he got her for a gift was exactly what she wised for. I was not intrigued while reading this book and it was very short and simple. I do not think that a young child would be interested in this story either. Overall, it was just not an attractive or appealing children’s book in my opinion.

Not my favortie Stock story, but her materials work well for young storytime programs or Tales for Twos.
