Star Wars Droids: Rebellion follow R2-D2 and C-3PO as they try to lead a Rebellion amongst the droid community but they face tricky organics and honest hutts! :D

Characterisation is brilliant and really captures the characters taking part in a complex storyline with much double dealing and big events but with lots of humour throughout! :D The artwork is also done very clean and concise way that captures the images with a style that matches the graphic novels pace brilliantly! :D Additionally throughout there are lots on in jokes as well the will keep you chuckling and going ah at what is in there! :D

Brilliant and highly recommended! :D

Short and entertaining story following the adventures of C-3PO and R2D2, good artwork and twists. I did feel a little mean watching the children trick the droid into walking off the building though!

Star Wars Legends Project #199

Background: Droids: Rebellion was released in January of 1997, collecting the 4-issue series of the same title (April-July 1995). It was written by Ryder Windham and drawn by Ian Gibson. Windham wrote several dozen Star Wars titles including involvement in the whole "Droids" run. In addition to some other issues of "Droids," Gibson also drew Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire.

Rebellion takes place immediately after The Kalarba Adventures (my review) (5.5 years before the Battle of Yavin). The main characters are C-3PO and R2-D2, and there are several recurring characters from the previous story arc.

Summary: Following their heroic efforts in saving Hosk Station, Artoo and Threepio have been deputized to pursue Olag Greck, the criminal responsible. Tracking him to Nar Shaddaa, the Smuggler's Moon, the droids are soon in over their heads, drawn into a labyrinthine plot much larger than Greck's petty schemes.

Review: Imagine my dismay when the previous arc ends with a direct lead-in to this next arc, featuring several of the same awful characters. Most of the same criticisms of the previous series apply to this one. The art is pretty ugly. The characters are bad. The plot is stupid. Well, so, about that. There's a slight step up in that this series attempts an actual plot instead of a series of disconnected trivialities. And there are a few surprises and twists and turns that generate some actual suspense and curiosity. But the story is still super-dumb. Threepio is somehow reprogrammed with a completely different personality and then inspires a group of droids to join him in a revolt. But it's all part of some wheels-within-wheels conspiracy that makes less sense the more you know about it. This whole series is just such a colossally silly misfire.

This volume had a more linear story-line than the previous one and was full of twists and double-crosses making it a much richer read also. The artwork was about the same, if a bit tired by now. Still not all that impactful on the Star Wars universe but not all that bad either.

It was a fun read, targeted towards younger reader.
It had some nice plot twists, an explanation for C-3P0's silver leg and good ideas.

Typical Star Wars offshoot fare - rattles along at a fair pace and all of your favourite characters, having been placed in great jeopardy, survive to fight another day.
