I had a quick read of this book between cleaning and ahead of a planned visit to the Talyllyn Railway later in the year. These are fun short stories that would be great for children.
This is an excellent little book which features more action on the Skarloey Railway. There are some very entertaining stories including when Peter Sam has to use a drainpipe as a funnel and Sir Handel takes on George, the mean, aggressive steamroller. Rheneas appeared briefly in Four Little Engines, being taken away for repair and he finally returns in this book. We get some more of the history of the railway when Skarloey tells of how Rheneas saved the line and then he finally returns at the end of the book. This, like many other of the Skarloey-based railway series books features enjoyable stories about what the engines get up to on their small railway and has excellent illustrations to match.

Another set of short stories about the little engines on their little railway, and once again, it’s very cute and enjoyable. It was nice to see each of them get their own story this time around even though they do all tie in. Not as good as the others, but still pretty enjoyable.
