Venus Williams does a great job of explaining the ins and outs of tennis. She and hers sister, Serena, are great role models for young people. I like the visual step by step nature of the book. Examples in sports have to be shown, so that the athlete can physically imitate the movements, and this book does a great job of that.

Twin Text: "The Prince of Tennis, Volume 1: Ryoma Echizen"
Ryoma Echizen, is a young and up incoming tennis player, who enters a 16 and under tournament. This book is about him battling the odds as he goes against older and more experienced tennis players. I chose this book as a twin test to How to Play Tennis," because Ryoma must showcase technique and be crafty to win his matches. He uses some of the same techniques Williams' describes in her book.

Really great for kids or newbies. Great photos of everything to show you all the basics, educate you on terminology, and has a bit on stretching and nutrition.

What a great book for anyone wanting a short primer on the basics of tennis. The librarian picked this out for me, (an adult) out of the children’s section as the SFPL is woefully devoid of adult tennis books. However, this book has all you need from soup to nuts laid out with practical pictures in a charming setting. Really great and inspiring.
