Good Night, Henry

Rate this book
On a horse ranch in the sun-drenched hills of Southern California, Mel Brown and her family must face their past before they can move into the future.

Melvina Brown has become an expert at holding it together. She's raising two boys-smart, tough Archie and sweet Theo, who dreams of playing baseball and doesn't let the fact that he has only one arm stop him. A perfect PTA mom Mel is not-her boots are too dirty for that. She's just taking it one day at a time, with a little help from her boyfriend, her twin sister, and her dad. It's a life that works pretty well-until her estranged husband shows up at their door, wanting to make up for lost time with his sons.

This isn't the usual genre of reading, but picked it up because it seemed like a light read. I think in today's society with single mothers, this story can be related to by many. I also think that every family has at least one of the main characters in their own family that they can relate to. I wonder if Henry is in Alaska?

I bought this book to take with me to Ireland because the dog on the cover reminded me of Lola.

Cute story about a mother trying to raise her 2 young sons (one with a physical deformity) while she's trying to patch up her own emotional scars. Nice family story

Truthfully, this book was pretty slow moving for me until page 200. It is a story about a dsyfucntional family, fmaily drama, and just growing as a family and individuals. Not bad once it got going, it just took awhile to get going.

I really didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I was pleasantly surprised to get lost in this book. I easily identified with the characters and became immersed in their life and their struggles. It has left me day dreaming... :)

One of the best books I've read - also appealing to me b/c i'm a big animal lover and this author weaves a lot of animals into the story lines. great characters - you really get drawn in.

This book seemed a bit slow moving, I had a hard time staying focused on it, but overall, it wasn't a bad book. I finished it and was glad I did.
