Aside: from the perspective of 2025 - cigarette ads (especially in the middle of a book) are really weird. This one had an otherwise normal-looking woman gleefully drinking from a garden hose.
Ultimately this was a book that couldn't get out of its own way, starting from the many-page recap of the entire previous book and proceeding through explanations for things and backstory. I did not feel that the rewards exceeded the effort necessary.
