"Embrace the Night" is a delightful read that never fails to captivate me. Despite being penned in the mid-'90s, the book has aged gracefully, remaining relevant in its portrayal of social climates. The masqurade orgy was an unexpected plot point when compared to books written around the same time.

The Cinderella retelling in this novel is particularly intriguing, enhanced by the murder mystery and stalker elements that add an exciting twist. Lucinda's character shines through as she stands up for herself, and the presence of Cook as a supportive figure adds a heartwarming touch.

However, the letter from the young woman feels a bit distracting, leaving us wondering about her connection to Will. On the flip side, the revelation of the killer, not being someone with a more significant presence like Charles or Ashley, caught me off guard.

The ghostly presence of Lucinda's mother is a fun and unique aspect, cleverly taking the place of the traditional fairy godmother character. Overall, "Embrace the Night" remains a charming and engaging historical romance with its mix of mystery, strong characters, and a touch of the supernatural.
