Having already read all Tony Hillerman's mysteries featuring Navajo policemen Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, I noticed this on the library shelf just after hearing of Hillerman's death. For the most part it has synopses/checklists of the books, which I skipped, but it does include some information on the Navajo and their clan system, plus an interview with Hillerman and three of his short stories -- two featuring the Navajo police and one, First Lead Gasser, that will stay with me a long time.
This was a quick read as I knew much of what was written in the book.Recently I found copies of Tony Hillerman's fiction which I had read quite a few years ago when I lived in America . Having now found copies of all Hillerman's fiction in the UK I used this book as a quick refresher before i explore the novels again. If you have not read Tony Hillerman before and enjoy crime fiction this maybe a good introduction particularly as it is set in a Native American situation
A good if non-essential resource to Tony Hillerman and his Navajo Mysteries. Lots of detail in here not just about Hillerman and his novels but Navajo clans, names, and culture.
