Did "Genesis Man"—the patriarchs of the Bible, Adam to Methusaleh [sic]—develop a highly advanced technology: space capability, laser beams, exotic energy sources? Was the earth once circled with a "crystal canopy"—rings of frozen ice like those of Saturn? Did "Space Beings" once mingle with earth's population? Was the Great Pyramid an interstellar communication device? Is the Bible to be taken as literally true—with startling results?
Intriguing and fascinating theories. A bit all over the place in terms of writing, but it caused me to re-think the way I have always viewed the earliest people of the Bible. This is an old book and I'm hanging onto it as it is so unique.
I find it ironic that the author's answer was the same as my own immediately upon reading the title: no.
Despite sharing several key beliefs about the nature of the universe and agreeing on some of the specifics as written, I found the majority of the book to be fanciful speculation. I suspect that the author was influenced in large part by choice of biblical translation paired with a drive to assimilate what was emerging science. I also wonder if a portion of Mormon tradition was mixed in.
Beyond portions that seemed to be the basis for a bad episode of Ancient Aliens, the disorganization of ideas, where pieces of concepts from previous sections intermingled as breathless recollections to be blurted heedless of the current heading, weakened any chain of argument.
Admittedly I picked the book up as potential fodder for other stories and possible roleplaying campaigns, for which it did not disappoint on several fronts. That original intent I am sure impacted my reading.
All that said, I did find a few good quotes such as, "Infinite power applied to a finite job eliminates time.", and some Bible passages that I want to reread and research further. Lastly, i was surprised how important the natural world and the animals were to the author, though I speculate that may have been true of many Christians in the mid 70's.
This is an outstanding book the literally BOOGLES the mind. It will captivate you and open your mind to the how things that are described in the Bible occurred using science and the Bible. He covers everything from creation to the new Earth and Jerusalem. It has been well received by his peers in the scientific community. I recommend this book for anyone who would like to know how some of the things in the Bible could have happened.
Absolutely fascinating! This book goes into thoughts and possibilities I have never heard put together! What was man really capable of in the beginning? What about some of the ancient structures and artifacts we see? It's mysterious, but this book goes into some amazing thoughts. Gives you an even larger wonderment of the universe and life. A wonderful read for someone who knows the Living God. You will see things with an even greater fascination. Highly recommend.
