Nicole and Chase have grown up together as next-door neighbors. Now they're high school seniors -- Nicole hangs out with the popular set, while Chase is known as just another dweeb. But when the guy Nicole expects to escort her to the prom asks someone else, Nicole is left with no date at all. I love this story. Rob Thomas writes savvy teen girls whose jaded sense of the world is fun and refreshing. He makes them smart. You know, like they are in real life. Crazy guy.

Eh. I liked this movie, mostly because of the main male lead (he's on Entourage now, what's his name, Adrian something?). It's typical Rob Thomas. Slightly jaded female lead vs. rebellious male lead...I like to think that the female character here is a basis for some of the 09'ers in Veronica Mars - especially the 09'ers that were later redeemed slightly, or at least shown with a different side (Troy Vandegraff, Logan Echolls - a LITTLE, Dick Casablancas, etc). Given that this movie is slightly old, the characters are nowhere near those of Veronica Mars in terms of depth (cliches and cheese abound, folks!) but it's a good movie compared to the rest of teen-flick craziness.

The best character IMO would be Designated Dave. Watch it simply for his cuteness.
