Excellent! Not re-inventing the wheel, nor replacing programs that work but adding another approach and tool for the toolbox. Based in long studied Cognitive Behavior Therapy and current brain science, the approach is very helpful generically in avoiding power struggles without avoiding the issues at hand. It is not a permissive approach, but one that looks at patterns of self-defeating behaviors in children and ways we as adults get sucked into the spiral, a lose-lose situation. For many the expanded strategies to avoid the power struggle [again, without avoiding the issue at hand] WORKS...WIN-WIN. Then it frees up more time, resources and energy for those needing more involved skill building. Ties in so well with conscious discipline and logical consequences. The basic components are understanding are really a base life skill for all humans. Works well with those who just love to push others' buttons ;).

In more complex situations the process helps guide some level of understanding of emotional triggers, irrational beliefs and ways to manage those thoughts and feelings more productively. It also helps build trusting relationships with adults that is so very hard for too many of our children today. Yet resiliency research shows that relationships with trustworthy, caring adults can help kids balance out risk factors with more protective factors. Specific strategies found to be helpful with specific patterns of thought & behavior...with cautions only in mistaking the most type when there are truly missing skills. [So then easy, you don't go there until the patterns are clear over time.] The 5 day training / certificate "train the trainer" program is well worth the amount of work that goes into, whether new to such approaches, or experienced.

Not paid or in any way influenced to give this positive rating ;).

Wow...very good training. Without the training, this book would not have been rated as high. Fantastic training though!
