I met one of the air traffic control operators who was involved in this sighting, and he gave me a copy of this book so I could learn more about it. This is, I guess, the big New Zealand UFO sighting, and as sightings go it's pretty outstanding. There were multiple occasions in which both ground and in-flight radar operators detected unknown flying objects, and then, days later, two pilots and a handful of journalists saw objects again whilst they were flying along the coast. Photographic evidence exists as well, but since it was at night, and involved lots of flying things (both the plane they were in and the objects they were trying to photograph), it's pretty sub-standard.

The book is pretty balanced in its treatment of the subject, as are most of the people involved. Very few of the men involved say definitively what they believe the objects were, and certainly there are no theories about the objects actually being alien beings from another world or anything like that. It's mostly just a very detailed account, from a collection of interviews and some recordings, of the week (or so) starting with the first radar detections on through to the flights that provided up-close, eye-witness accounts of...whatever.

It's a good read, although well out of print at this point. Not quite as interesting as actually meeting the last surviving crew member of the group who "saw" all of this from his radar screen on the ground, but still an interesting read. If you are into UFO's, this is a must.
