Extraordinary Dogs: Inspirational Stories of Dogs With Disabilities

Rate this book
Auggie appeared to be a klutzy puppy, always bumping into walls. Really, he was born blind and could only see shadows. Emmy Lou, a kind-spirited hunting dog, was shot and could never use her hind legs again. Jinx, a rambunctious three-legged terrier mix, was abandoned and dumped on the side of the road. Despite the difficult hardships that these pups faced, they found families who accepted and loved them unconditionally. Extraordinary Dogs is a compilation of fifty heartwarming, against-all-odds profiles of dogs with disabilities with an unwavering zest for life. Each dog’s one of a kind story will no doubt win you over, paws down.

As a mom to a dachshund in a dog cart ("Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog")I could relate with everyone of these stories in Joyce's book. Disabled animals truly deserve a chance and Joyce proved that over and over again with these truly, heart warming, inspirational stories. I found myself laughing and then crying. My heart is so happy for all the animals in this book that were given a chance at life. Joyce proves in this book that animals with disabilities can absolutely live a life of quality. We just have to give them the chance.

My dog, Ava, is featured in this wonderful book, filled of pure inspiration! Being born without eyes, I knew that adopting Ava would include many hurdles, but was never imagined how easy it would have been. After reading this book, it was so comforting to see there are so many kindhearted, individuals out there, who love their dogs unconditionally, no matter what the circumstances may be! I highly recommend this book to all animal lovers!

For anyone who is a dog lover and is involved in rescuing dogs. My husband, step-daughter and I met the author and the dog, Duke that is on the cover at a pet expo recently. Wonderful family and a true belief in what they do. All these stories have happy endings although many had a rough road to reach their happy forever home.

This book was given to me as a gift from a fellow-animal lover. It is a quick read - I got through almost the entire book one day on the beach. The book is full of various inspirational stories of disabled dogs, and how they and their owners overcame their disabilites. Moving to any animal lover.
