Arabella Buckley is an excellent writer and while some of my children took a while to warm up to this one we all were fascinated by the end. This book is very detailed and we liked the illustrations and descriptions of different features of invertebrates.
My one caveat is that she is definitely coming from an evolutionist perspective as fact and it comes through in sections but it led to good conversation and was not obnoxious. I love how older science books put such emphasis on basic things that we can observe and make mention of other naturalists who have noticed such and such. I think it encourages children that they can notice and learn in a similar fashion.
