You know I love a short read which this book thankfully was!

I read that Cawl tried to make sure the novel was historically accurate and it’s evident in the story how much attention to detail was given in this avenue. I only wish I was fluent in Somali so I could appreciate the prose and poetry more but the glossary given was quite helpful.

Overall a great book for diasporic Somalis to read and learn about the role that poetry and prose plays in Somali society.
