Tatting Patterns

Rate this book
Do you tat? Do you want new ideas, new projects for tatting? If you do, then you need this book. It contains not only 116 beautiful and useful patterns, but also detailed and simple directions telling you what materials to use, how to work each pattern, and illustrations of the finished pieces. It will start you working on projects you never thought of tatting before, and it will give you many new ideas for pieces of your own.
The book starts with a brief explanation of stitches and a short, general section on materials. There are directions and hints on the new or "Modern Tatting"; though the pieces appear fragile and lace-like, they are exceedingly strong and capable of much wear and tear. The patterns begin with simple projects — edging, beading, insertions, trimming, borders — and then go on to more complicated flower, butterfly, alphabet, and geometric designs for collars, yokes, doilies, handbags, jabots, baskets, pillowcases, aprons, scarves, necklaces, lamp shades, baby bonnets, a serving tray cloth, a belt buckle, a table scarf, and many more.
Experienced needleworkers who already know how to tat will find this book immensely useful and practical. The patterns can be used in combination or as a source to develop your own unique ideas. Tatting Patterns is sure to increase your pleasure and skill, giving you a fund of new designs and projects.

Beautiful old fashioned patterns, but also the old wordy patterns, no diagrams. Still a great book for a collection and inspiring new designs.

At a time when I had very little money this was one of the least expensive tatting books available from the catalog. It seemed to mainly be photocopies of antique patterns freely available at the Antique Pattern Library website. I was highly disapointed and donated it to my tiny local library for anyone who may not have or want internet access.

This book belongs to me, and I use it when I want to make something. I have already gone through the whole book, and am not sorry that I have purchased it.
