The bright lights of the big city called to Liz Rogers. Her best friend and almost roommate, Dale, helped her make the transition from small town girl to big time ad executive. They work together and nearly live together. For eight years he’s been her rock, her sounding board. As Liz starts breaking off one workplace relationship, another one—that has been brewing since the first day she arrived in New York, blossoms—leaving her confused and concerned. Dale Corbins has been in love with Liz from the moment he laid eyes on her. He knows time is running out, that one of these days she’s going to come home and tell him she’s fallen for someone else. When he finds out she’s been sleeping with their boss, he decides it’s time to take matters into his own hands. Unfortunately, winning Liz’s heart isn’t an easy game to play. It will take more than romantic gestures and sweet nothings to get the woman he loves. Thankfully, he’s a very persistent man. But is this a game even he can’t win? Spicy/Carnal This book contains a quick tempered heroine, a uber hot leading man, toe-curling sex and people who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, regardless the language used.

I was not as crazy about this book as I thought I would be because usually I absolutely LOVE best friends to lovers books. This book seemed a little all over the place. At one point, I actually looked to see if I was reading part 2 of a series because it just seemed like there was quite a bit that the reader was assumed to have known and didn't. I can't really put my finger on specifics and more was explained as the story went on, but I felt like I was missing some of the back story throughout the book and this book really portrays New Yorkers as assholes. The whole scene with Dale's mother was just like something out of a Jerry Springer book and then all of a sudden she's telling Dale to give Liz a hug. I thought there would be more to the whole affair with her boss situation but there really wasn't other than the fact that he really did his best at impersonating a total d-bag. The title didn't really fit. Liz's character didn't really make sense nor did Dale's. Too much time was spent on the little inconsequential details (like details about what everyone was wearing) and not enough time on developing the relationship between Liz and Dale after the situation on the bathroom floor. Read fast, read well, Dale had his fair share of d-bag moments too, and the book ended in a way that I didn't really expect but wasn't really surprised at either.

While I have no idea what the title has to do with this book, I will say that it was a very pleasant read. The main characters, Dale and Elizabeth, have been best friends for eight years and have been living together for most of that time. Dale is a charming, attractive, rich and happy go lucky character. Elizabeth was hurt deeply in a previous relationship so she is afraid to trust her heart to any man so she is purposely steering clear of an romantic entanglements with her best bud.

Sparks fly as Dale decides he has waited long enough on Liz to realize what a great guy he is so he starts to make things happen. Unfortunately Liz has been secretly been having an affair with her boss so when Dale finds out he makes all kinds of missteps where their relationship is concerned.

This book had many interesting secondary characters. Dale’s sister is one of Liz’s best friends as well as two other women that are part of her ‘group’. The story begins and ends in New York but we also make a brief trip to Ohio (where Liz is originally from.) There we meet yet more interesting people; Liz’s 2 brothers, her BFF from high school and an old fiancé.

I felt like the end was rushed and some of the scenes could have used some more detail or information so the reader isn’t left wanting. The whole book is written in first person so you only ever get Liz’s perspective. There were many times when I felt like if would be nice to know what Dale was thinking because he did some really dumb things. Overall I did enjoy this book and would be interested in reading more by her. If she writes more in this series I will definitely read them. Roth has created a group of people that are very interesting and I want to know what happens next.

Maybe more a C+

Good - but sometimes it dragged - and there were [enough] typos/missing words that it started to distract me.

I also wasn't quite sure why the last bit with Dakota was necessary - seemed almost as if something was skipped.

Dale and Liz are perfect though. (But through reading the story it seemed to backtrack a bit on their original relationship/lack thereof, them being all BFF only not... and the walking around each other naked comfortably NBD - which I guess didn't *actually* happen?)

This is not my normal genres but it was really good.
there is a really bad messed up love triangle between Liz who doesn't want to get her heart hurt so she doesn't wait to fall in love. But she is having an affair with her boss. Then there is dale her roommate who loves her but when she find out will she take the next step?
characters are great and I love mandy roth's writing.
So if your into contemporary romance you will love this
book given for a honest review.

I had a very difficult time putting down this novel. Liz has an affair with her boss and tries so hard to hide it from everyone including her best friend Dale who is secretly in love with her for 8 years. When he found out about the affair he had to try and fight for her.

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Narration 3 Story 4

A best friends to lovers trope is the centerpoint of this story, and while I really did like Dale, I was rather on the fence about Elizabeth. These two have been friends for years, in fact Dale is her roommate and shoulder, and occasional ‘safety switch’. He’s pretty carefree and open, and he doesn’t make his admiration of her a secret, but she hides behind the ‘I’ve been hurt’ barrier.

When Dale decides that enough is enough, and wants to make his intentions clear – their connection is off the chain, but her immaturity and constant need to bicker was annoying and thoroughly frustrating. While there was some solidity to their friendship, I couldn’t fully buy into his attraction for the longest time, her behavior was so conflicted unless or until it suited her to be loving and kind.

Narration in this story is provided by Sarah Van Sweden, my second encounter with her work. While this was a smoother narration than the first I’d listened to from her, there are still moments where her overly definite enunciation distracted from the flow of the story, although it was an issue quickly sorted with what appeared to be increased comfort with performing a narration and not simply reading.

The story does dance about a bit and emotionally runs the gamut from wanting to get a cold drink after sexy time to wanting to bash Elizabeth (and occasionally Dale) over the head with a cast-iron pan to halt the bickering. Believe me, you will want LOTS of ice handy, this is erotic romance with some seriously hot and inventive scenes, a trait Roth has down. A few late additions ramped up the tension, almost unnecessarily, and perhaps introduced characters to follow in later installments. If you are a fan of friends to lovers and like a story with steam – this is the book for you. Overall it was an enjoyable getaway as Roth played my patience and emotional response to the characters with precision.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the publisher for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Ms Roth does a great modern romance too. This is a prime example. Country girl turned city exec, Liz, has a best friend, Dale. He's wealthy, practically lives with her and is in love with her. She isn't into relationships, she has friends with benefits--in this case a boss with benefits. When Dale finds out he ups his game and decides to change their relationship.

Liz is no pushover. She makes it in a man's world, not because she is sleeping with the boss, but because she is good, tough and works damn hard. She's also afraid to have a real relationship. She's been hurt and doesn't talk about it to anyone.

Just as Liz feared, taking that step up changes their eight year comfortable living situation. She's has denied her feelings for years and he is making her face them.

Their new realizations make a real see-saw life for them both. Friends, families, lovers, and living situations all change and emotions are raw. The heat factor is steamy. There is so much humor, and real emotional growth for the couple and their friends. I wondered if they would ever get through it, but I couldn't stop until I found out and you won't be able to either.

I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

I did not want to stop reading this story. It was amazing. Dale and Elizabeth have been friends for 8 years and have been "playing house" for the majority of that time. Liz is a very intelligent woman; she is snarky, commitment- phobic, and a generally nice person. Dale is funny, charming, attractive and rich. We start this story in a board room, where Liz is day dreaming wishing her vacation would already start. Her boss, the owner of the company and guy she is sleeping with, interrupts her daydreaming and dismisses everyone from the board room, except her. We think she is in trouble and shortly realize that is not the case. However, we do see that Charles Baum, her boss, does genuinely care for her and is a bit possessive. Here is the first time we see her commitment phobia come to play. Dale has been her best friend for 8 years is in love with her and finds out that she is seeing Charles. Sparks fly and shots are fired. I do not want to give to much away but this is a great story. There is comedy, drama and romance. I would love to see where Mandy takes the rest of the characters, she developed a very well rounded group and makes you interested in the secondary characters as well as the main couple.

This was my first non paranormal read by Mandy Roth so wasn't sure what to expect but as usual I was not disappointed!!!

Lizzie is a very engaging character, even though you do occasionally want to slap her for being so dense when it comes to men!!!! She's tough but wants someone to share her life with, though she can't see it herself. She has the best of both worlds, she sleeps with men to keep her libido in check but has an emotional connection and deeper relationship with her co-worker and best friend, Dale.

Dale is a lovable, witty and very female friendly character. He is just about living with Lizzie, they're like a married couple without having got married!!! The passion that starts exploding between them when Dale realises she is sleeping with their boss is intense!

Lies, secrets and undeclared love are never a good mix. I read this in one go and I loves that Charles, although a rival, was still able to see Dale as the better choice and was actually a nice guy, for a bed hopping, commitment phobe.

Hope to read more of these contemporary romances of Mandy's!

This story revolves around Dale and Liz with a supporting character of Dale's sister Paige and friend Meghan. While good, you best get ready for a emotional rollar coaster ride with these two. Dear lord do they ever fight a lot and at times I wanted to smack the characters upside the head. I did find the dialog between all the characters to be very funny at times. This book does not contain any paranormal elements which is a departure from the other books I have read by this author. Towards the end several male character's were introduced, an old fiance, a sheriff and Liz's brothers. Perhaps this book was meant to be part of a series? I sure would like to read more about what happens to those characters. Anyways, this is a good book with lots of steamy action as long as you can get past all the bickering.

Another great 1st book for Mandy m. Roth!!!!

Love, passion, jealousy and a man to die for!!!

I really loved the book though at times i found it a lil bit complicated over the plot and the characters at points over reacted but all in all it was damn hot and fast paced and really made me laugh.

Liz works in a company and has been having sex with her boss.

Dale is her best friend and they live together and do everything together but have sex.

After a hard ache when Liz was young she has decided that men are only to have fun but what happens when you have sex with your best friend and discover you have feelings you shouldn't??

An excellent start of a new series that i can't wait for more!!!!

Oh my gosh this book was fantastic, scandalous, and spicy. I loved this story about Liz and Dale two best friends with more than friendship brewing between them. Liz has been burned in the past so she has problems committing to one man, now she is having an affair with her boss and this is the final straw for Dale. Dale has been wanting more from Liz for a long time now he just isn't sure if taking the chance is worth their friendship but finding out that Liz and their boss is together is the catalyst that propels him to risk it all for the one woman he can't resist. I loved this story, the more I read from Roth the better she gets. She is hands down one of the best romance writers out there, this book proves it.

If I were picking a song for Executive Decision, it would be "The Search is Over" by Survivor. I seriously heard that song in my head when reading this book (and I may be playing it while writing this review, too). I originally read it in the Sweetest Seductions box set, which is a fantastic set for a great price.

I'm a sucker for unrequited love or love between friends who realize they were meant for each other. The complexity of the relationships between Liz, Dale, Charles, and the secondary characters helps to make this book a great read. The story is very well-written. I hope there's more in the future about the rest of the characters, especially Liz and Dale's siblings. I'd love to see what happens with them.

Mandy M. Roth has crafted a story in which the characters are well crafted and real. From the beginning Dale is the perfect romantic lead, Elizabeth took awhile to unfold for me but once she did, I was able to see traits in her that reminded me not only of myself but many of women I know. The relationship between Elizabeth and Dale is at times frustrating, comic, sad, and joyous... as real relationships are. To me the mark of a great book is that in the end the characters created within it are real and have made you feel something. The characters in this book did just that. Executive Decision is a great read and I highly recommend it.

Dale and Liz are best friends who are like a married couple without the sex. For the last eight years they have done everything for each other including working for the same company. Dale has been in love with Liz that long but continues to date other women because Liz doesn't see interested. Liz on the the other hand has been having an affair with their boss for the last year and Dale just found out. He is not happy because he knows all about how the boss treats the women in his life. Eventually the pair gives into their feelings and a series of misunderstandings happen, but with the help of friends and family they work things out.

This was a kindle freebie.

I like this book a lot! I'm honestly not sure what the title has to do with the plot, but that aside, this is a friends-to-lover story that features great sexual tension, hot sex scenes and snappy dialogue. I loved the heroine and her sharp wit that she uses to protect herself. There was definitely some plot convenience theater at the end of the story, but I was happy to suspend my disbelief and go along for the ride.

I found Ms. Roth's writing had a similar feel to Megan Hart's. (And I really like Megan Hart's books, so this is a compliment.)

Complicated Love
In this well written story we have Elizabeth (Liz) her best friend Dale and his sister Paige another of her best friends and several others. Now Dale has been in the friend category for eight years and both have had other sexual partners while being friends with each other. But can a female ever truly be friends with a guy without him wanting more? And then there’s Charles, Liz and Dale’s boss. Liz has been doing him for a year and yet she’s never told Dale and when he finds out is when thing start to get interesting. Well written and very entertaining story to read.

I love the strong willed character of Liz's character and I love the background story she saves ever cleverly for Dales mother. I love that he's been inlove with her for years. I didn't however like how they both seemed so clueless to one another. I fell into the story so fast I felt like I was right there watching it unfold first hand. I was so frustrated that they both kept assuming things I wanted to scream.

It was a great story overall. I loved the ending and the characters were wonderful. I'm never disappointed with Mandy's books.

The start was good after that it was ok

What an awsome romance, with a little tension added in. Liz is a small town girl working in a big city living her dream and staying unattached. Dale is rich boy in love with Liz and biding his time until she realizes he is one for her. Soon things heat up and tensions rise and what they mean to each other comes full circle. This is a must read book by Mandy and you will love it as much as I did

Not your typical Mandy Roth style but still and excellent book. Liz and Dale have been best friends for 8 years. They're like a married couple without the sex. When her current lover shakes things up between them will they ever be the same?

I love how Mandy brings characters to life. Liz and Dale were so real and relatable. The supporting characters were just as great. Highly recommended read

This is such a sweet story of romance and love, add in the ups and downs and twists and turns that can often get in the way of a relationship and you have the makings of some good reading. I love the writings from this author and look forward to reading as many of her books as I can get my hands on.

I had a hard time connecting with the personalities of the hero and the heroine both. I didn't get a good sense of their personalities until nearly the end of the book for some reason. I'm happy I stuck around to find out the happily ever after.

I'm waffling between 3 and 3.5 stars on this one. I thought Liz got on my nerves a lot. I'm glad that she and Dale got together but she was so wishy-washy at times.

Even still, this was a very hot story and I enjoyed reading it.

This was one of the first non-paranormal books of Ms. Roth that I have read. Liz and Dale are a great couple, living like they are married, but without sex. This was an obvious friend to lover story from the beginning. I'm not sure how I feel about the total first person perspective though.
