“A wonderfully written text that will provide clear, up-to-date explanations for complex medical problems involving recurrent pregnancy loss. The personal accounts allow us all to be inspired by the desire to reproduce!” — Andrei Rebarber, M.D., clinical associate professor, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York; president, Maternal Fetal Medicine Associates, PLLC A Reassuring and Informative Guide That Offers New Hope For Expectant Parents Along with inspiring accounts of women who have delivered healthy babies after years of heartbreak , Dr. Jonathan Scher provides the latest medical information on preventing recurrent miscarriages, including why couples with "unexplained infertility" actually may be suffering repeat pregnancy loss due to failure of the embryo to implant in the womb, important immunological and tissue tests that may explain or prevent miscarriage, emerging treatments such as heparin and I.V.I.G., updated resources, and much more.
It's not so much about preventing, but giving the millions of reasons it could happen and some paths to take if that applies to you.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone trying to get pregnant or the first time, it'll just be scary. It's more for someone who has had 2-3 and needs to look for a different path. It also contains a lot of success stories of women who had a lot of problems and finally found success.
This was a good, informative book. It talks about the different reasons people miscarry and the different medical treatments, as well as some simple ways to improve your chances of everything turning out okay next time. It is overall, very positive. Whether it actually helps prevent miscarriage remains to be seen!
This book gave me some new information, but not much. I was very hopeful that I would learn more, but apparently I have already done too much reading and research. Also, the author had some facts that were just plain wrong, i.e. your period always comes exactly 14 days after ovulation! WTH? So I am a little disinclined to believe him already. Maybe the next book will be more helpful.
This is a well-rounded book, offering hope, and a wide range of medical treatments, including immune treatments. I just really want to know if the poor woman(Philippa) with the repeated 20+ week losses ever managed to have a child.
This was a very informational book on the possible causes of miscarriage and possible treatments. It's a bit technical but it may help you understand what things to look for if you have miscarried.
