This is a humorous rhyming picture book about a bear that only wants to be left alone long enough to take a nap will make young readers giggle. Unfortunately, buzzing insects make napping impossible for the young bear who grows increasingly frustrated. The lengths the bear goes to in order to get some peace are extraordinary. However, the story does culminate nicely for the overburdened bear.
Despite a pretty scary picture of the bear roaring at a family of raccoons, this title is appealing. A young bear's antics are shown on a hot summer day. Not sure that I have what it takes to take this one to a group...but worked well as an individual read.
Bugs are bugging bear so much that he's way too tired and getting irritable until he finally lands in a meadow where the bugs are softer and nicer and he begins to nod. Illustrations are a bit grotesque because the animals are a bit exaggerated.
Good storytime for hibernations, bug, noise theme. Bear tries to sleep but the bugs keep making noise. He gets in difficult situations and usually with different types of animals.
Cute introduction to different kinds of bugs as experienced in ecosystem niches by a bear cub, short on solid content but sweet. Good for very little kids.
