USA Today best selling author Maureen Child is the author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas. Maureen is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America.
One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis.
Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing.

Under her own name, Maureen writes short contemporary novels for Silhouette Desire—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling. Maureen is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances for NAL and darker paranormal stories for Silhouette Nocturne.

Maureen writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings

This story really touched my heart. I haven’t cried while reading a book in a while. This book brought tears to my eyes. The story just really moved me.

I loved Jeremiah in this book. He was a sneaky, stubborn old man. He missed his grandsons and had not seen them in 15 long years. 15 years ago something bad happened on the ranch. His grandkids left, and never came back to visit him.

His grandsons agreed to come visit for the summer because Jeremiah was sick. I loved the way the story started out. I loved the way Sam Jeremiah’s oldest grandson, met Maggie, Jeremiah’s house keeper. I loved the friendship between Maggie, and Sam. Maggie gave Sam hope, eased his pain, and healed his heart. The two fell in love along the way. This was a book, I think everyone should read. If you cry in movies, make sure to have your tissues handy, near the end of the book. This is not the typical boy meets girl, girl get pregnant, and they get married. This story has depth to it, a solid plot, and characters that touch your heart. Maggie has her own story, which touched my heart. She had been through a lot in her life. She still had a positive attitude, and was able to share that spark of life with others. Sam had been living with guilt for the past 15 years. Coming back to the ranch, and dealing with the pain, freed him. This was a beautiful story.

Sample from chapter 7 – There was something about this man that touched something in her no one else had ever come close to.

Sample from chapter 8 –Sam didn’t trust himself to speak. Guilt roared through him with a sound so thunderous it surprised the hell out of him that the others couldn’t hear it. The doc was right. Jeremiah had been punished for something that wasn’t his fault. Sam and his cousins had each cut the ranch and the old man out of their lives to make living with that summer easier on themselves. But they’d never stopped to consider how their actions affected their grandfather.

Sam the man running from life and Maggie the sweetheart.
A pretty typical harlequin style read that was entertaining. But Sam isn't an a-hole but a nice guy who has spent 15 years blaming himself for an accident that cost the life of someone he loved. I gotta say that that part got tiring after a while. I mean it really was just an accident. A stupid one sure, but it was a little OTT the way he and his cousins reacted.
So 15 years ago Sam and his 2 cousins left the ranch never to return, until they hear that their grandfather's health is failing.
Sam is the first to return and the first thing he finds that evening is a beautiful woman skinny dipping. Maggie has been his grandfather's housekeeper for several years, after she literally landed on his doorstep with nothing to her name.
There's nice chemistry between the MCs and the grandfather and his friend the local doctor are a hoot. Overall it was a nice read. The wind up at the end was a little quick and convenient, but still enjoyable.

Wow, everything was solved in one chapter! So this was more plot than characters, cause the characters were kinda cookie cutter, 'I'm tortured! and 'I'm so happy!', this is NEVER going to work. Its not bad, but no very memorable. Eh, read it if you need something quick.

This was a cute read as the first in a trilogy about three cousins who have come back to the place they spent their summers before a tragedy occurred. Their grandfather is unwell and it's only this that brings them back.

Sam the surgeon resents coming back but when he meets his grandfather's housekeeper, she might provide a pleasant distraction from his memories.

Maggie knows Sam is only here as long as his Grandfather needs him and then he'll be gone. So when their little affair has unexpected consequences, it's going to take a lot of convincing on Sam's part that there can be a future.

A nice little story with a bit of heat.

This was a food quick read. I did think the hero was too selfish and self centered. It made him unlikeable for me.
