I read this book to prepare for my next novel study at school. Ben Carson’s story is amazing and puts Christ at the center of everything he has done. If you have upper elementary to middle school kids, I highly recommend this book.

Whoo! Back in the day was totally different from today. Can you imagine a young boy like Ben Carson who was getting bullied, and was being call rude names. I don't know why people call other people names, because later it turns out the person becomes way better than you, and then you'll feel bad for what you did.For example: People kept calling Ben dumb and said he was the dumbest kid in the world. When Ben was in 7th grade, they were in science class, and the teacher had a rock in his hand and asked the class what it was. Nobody raised their hand to answer. Finally Ben raised his hand and gave the name of the rock, and even gave extra facts they wasn't even asked. All the kids were suprised.

At a young age, Ben dreamed to be a surgeon, he thought he wasn't going to be it because he failed a few chemistry classes. Next thing you know he became one of the best surgeons who won a lot of rewards. This book taught me not to ever give up and never let any one stop me from what I want to be when you grow up.

I have read all his books a number of times, long before he ended up being my surgeon. He is just
so humble & inspiring and he really is as amazing of a person as he is a surgeon.
