Two thieves on the run in a beat-up station wagon stop to ask thirteen-year-old Travis directions, and his life suddenly shifts gear. On the woman's face is a sinister tattoo, an incarnation of evil. What does it mean, and why does a crow keep appearing out of the empty sky like a dark omen?

Author Biography: Peter Lawrence is a partner in Kill City, the crime bookshop in Melbourne. When he combines his writing talents with Tom Jellett's stark black and white illustrations, the outcome is more than spine-chilling.
About the Illustrator: Tom Jellett is already familiar to After Dark readers through his haunting illustrations in The Barn and The Crow.

Another short story, and an easy read.

Leonard and Maya have stolen goods and are on the run. Kidnapping Travis and Amy whilst they waited for the school bus.

Taking the children up the mountains to hide from Police and use the children as insurance. But things didn't go as planned.

These books were so scary when I was you g. The main thing that made them scary was they’re realism, which this particular book didn’t have.
