Laurie Faria Stolarz grew up in Salem, MA, attended Merrimack College, and received an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston.

Laurie Faria Stolarz is an American author of young adult fiction novels, best known for her Blue is for Nightmares series. Her works, which feature teenage protagonists, blend elements found in mystery and romance novels.

Es el mejor libro de la saga, la historia al principio comienza de nuevo, con los mismos elementos de sus predecesores pero al mismo tiempo se va convirtiendo en una masa compleja que te sorprende bastante.

Los personajes se sienten más frescos y con más profundidad, provocando que sientas lo que ellos en los momentos de más tensión. Confusión, enojo, tristeza se arremolinan en el pecho con cada capítulo, haciendo evidente que ya no tenemos idea de lo que va a suceder y eso es lo mejor.

Y qué final, uno de los mejores que he leído y con un formato inesperado, pensé que ya me sabía todos los trucos de Laurie, fue una muy grata sorpresa que nos demostrara lo contrario.

What the hell just happened here?

I honestly don't even know how I feel about this book. Literally every character in this book pissed me off at one point. Actually, the only one who I could stand at the end was Jacob. Everything about this plot had me frustrated. How - after 2 years of this - Stacey's friends still question her nightmares. It's like, wake the fuck up! She saved your asses before, have some god damn faith!

And Stacey, come on! Grow a god damn backbone and speak up. For a main character, there's just not enough presence - nothing that comes from her. I find her extremely weak. But weirdly, I don't blame the character, I blame the writer. Stolarz, to me, seems like she's writing what she thinks teenagers/young adults are like and then taking it twelve steps farther and writing that down. Nothing about these friendships is believable. Nothing about their day-to-day lives are believable. And if you want me to care about your characters, don't make them so god damn stupid and annoying. Case in point: Clara.

Clara has to be the worst written character ever in a book. This is a combination of character and writing. If we were supposed to care that she was in danger - well, epic fail there. I cringed every time she came around.

I will say that the epilogue was my favorite part. The fact that it was an entire chapter written from journals, transcripts, and news articles was interesting and actually good. Too bad the entire book wasn't written like this.

I will go onto the next one and I will hold on to the bright light that is Jacob.

I have been enjoying this YA paranormal series lately; it has been on my TBR list for awhile and I thought it would be cute to read it on Remembrance Day for NO REASON other than the title, Red is for Remembrance. I really love that it is representing Stacy as a young, psychic Wiccan, which really is no more than a natural talent for herbs, healing and respect for the earth. In this book we find Stacey and her closest friends from her boarding school, like Drea and Amber, and their boyfriends, all looking forward to a perfect vacation before they start college.
Friends, a cottage on the beach, and no parents... It all goes perfectly until her nightmares return, this time about Clara, a girl in another cottage, and it's about her death. Stacey can't figure out her dreams in time, and with horrific consequences; a tragedy that will forever haunt her.

I have only red Blue, White and Silver, but I thought this was the best one so far. I thought I could follow the story better. It was more mystery than drama and magical. The story was a little unbelieveable and I HATED the end. The story gives a lot leading up to what happens and then it just falls off and the book ends. I guess it just leaves you hanging and now I have to go read Red is for Remebrance.

After absolutely loving the second book in this series, I figured the third one would be at least somewhat good. Nope. I feel like all of the characters were way less mature than in the previous books, and Clara was just a mess. The twist at the end made literally no sense, and the actual ending was really infuriating. I also felt that Jacob was really out of character from what we saw in the last book.

Future Erika: Don't reread this series. It was lame, and all the girls were slut and fat shaming each other. You predicted the ending 75% through. All the characters were indistinguishable or a caricature of what the author though was a "cool teenager".

Personally, I loved this book, although there were some moments in it where there was just so much going on and it was a bit hard to focus on certain parts. (I accidentally read this one before the 2nd one) During the book the MC, Stacey, and her friend are all out on vacation in a beach house, but Stacey starts having nightmares again about this girl they just met, Carla. (These nightmares are about how shes gonna die.) So, Stacey starts investigating and finds out that Carla 'has a stalker.' Stacey makes it a duty to stay with Carla until they all get into a fight and Stacey realizes she should protect her friends first. On the last night of their vacation when they go on the cruise Stacey lets Carla out of her sight for a bit and spends time with her boyfriend, Jacob, when she eventually falls asleep. When she wakes up she finds that Jacob is gone and there's a note next to her saying to meet someone up on the dock of the boat. When she goes up there she finds Carla all alone and they end up getting into a fight. Eventually Jacob finds them and realizes Carla had hurt Stacey. When he trys to save her he ends up falling off of the boat and Carla is arrested. I thought a lot of things were going on in this book, but at the same time I really enjoyed it!

"Keeping secrets doesn't bring people together, it only pulls them apart."

Stacey's off on a vacation with her friends - the same roommates she's already had - and their significant others. They want to have fun and hang out again together. But soon into the holiday, Stacey has new symptoms and nightmares and she knows someone is in danger.

I think my biggest frustration with this one is it felt like a lot of repeated stuff. We kept having to deal with Clara, over and over again. It was frustrating that, again, no one really talked. Stacey downplayed what she was going through but then also went over the top with it (like running off into strange houses on her own). It seemed like everyone was keeping secrets and no one was communicating and we just had to keep reading again Clara butting in everywhere. It made what should have been a fun book annoying. I wish I'd liked it more.

Also, I'm sad at the conclusion of this one. I'm sure there can't be a quick answer other than the obvious one so I'm curious to see where the next story takes us.

!!!SPOILERS!!! I personally give this book 5 stars because of the leading events to the pot twist at the end. Example, how Stacey descried the new things in her dreams that started to add up to the end of the story. Like how she described seeing a man holding death lilies in her dream, implying that Clara was going to die. And in the end on her last dream before the story finishes, the man ends up being Jacob (Stacey's Boyfriend). I think that showed me the most because in Stacey's previous dreams she saw a man with death lilies and it ended up being Donavon who is not a innocent high schooler. So usually it means that that person is going to kill someone, but Jacob didn't didn't technically to something to "kill" Clara. So that was something that got me interested more because I still don't know what happened after that. Overall this book is a great thriller and highly recommend for people who like drama, witchcraft, and murder stories. It also it's a very long book depending on reading level, but I unfortunately do not remember when I started and finished this book.

When Stacey starts having nightmares again , she isn't happy . She wanted to have a normal summer with her friends and just relax at the beach house they all rented for the summer . Stacey and her boyfriend , Jacob , are more alike . As Stacey starts dreaming about the death of a girl , Clara , Jacob seems to be a little more distant .

Stacey is feeling very stressed between trying to figure out her nightmares and everything going on with Jacob she doesn't know what to do . Stacey needs to stay by Clara as much as possible , but is it worth not being around Jacob ?

As the day of Clara's death draws near , there is talk of everyone going on a cruise . Clara is going so that means Stacey has to go , even though Jacob penly refuses to go . She reluctantly get's set and Chad , Drea , Amber , Pj , Clara and Stacey head off .

While on the ship and looking for Clara , Stacey sees the last person she thought she would , Jacob . She doesn't understand what made him change his mind but she is glad he does . That night , Stacey tells Clara that she will be watching her from 11:30 on due that it is the day everything is supposed to happen . She spend the hours before that with Jacob and she is finally able to tell him how she really feels in three little words --- I Love You .

When she awakes amnd Jacob is gone , Stacey looks at the clock and it reads 11:28 . While getting dressed , she finds a note addressed to Jacob telling him to meet someone on the deck at 11:30 or she , Stacey , will pay the price .

As she goes to the deck , she sees Clara and confronts her . Clara tells her that she was one stupid girl for thinking that she was introuble . Clara tells Stacey to look at her , and then she tells her the story of how he beloved , Donovon , was sent to prison because of her and this is his revenge . As Clara tried to hurt Stacey , they are interrupted momentarilly by Jacob . Clara tells him to back up or she will hurt Stacey .

The end will leave you heartbroken and crying , I know it was like that for me .

This was surprisingly good.

I remember reading the previous sequel back in the 8th grade or something like that.
I remember being thrilled and obsessed, but somehow ended up not continuing with the series. Not saying I gave up on them, simply never got a chance/time to read the two books left.
Until now.

One thing you need to know about me: I never reread books.
Means: I picked this one up without even remembering characters' names, who they were and their stories.
I picked it up expecting this is going to be a lame teenage book I liked before only because I didn't know better.
So glad I was wrong.

Silver is for Secrets is a quick, intense read I don't regret spending time on.
Can't imagine how much more would I like it if I actually remembered a thing or two about characters from the previous books.

One thing that bothered me, though:
Chad is Drea's boyfriend -> Chad is Stacy's boyfriend -> Chad is Drea's boyfriend again
And Drea and Stacy kept being best friends through it all.
Like, what?
Seriously?

Last 20 pages: 4 stars. Rest of the book: 2.5 stars. My main complaint: WHY ARE THERE NO LIKABLE CHARACTERS IN THIS SERIES?! Seriously. There is one like-able character, and he was barely in this book.

Our protagonist, Stacey, is spineless and has no personality - hasn't throughout the entire series. I this that has been what is missing from this book series, and why I can't give any of these books a higher rating than 2.5 stars.

And this book in particular was difficult because the innocent that Stacey was trying to save was SO unlikable (though we understand why later). All in all, it's hard to relate to anyone in this series.

I appreciated that this book was a tad les predictable than its predecessors. Like I said, last 20 pages = 4 stars. I appreciated the way that the epilogue was put together, too.

Don't get me wrong - the series is entertaining, and it's easy to zip through the books. I'm just enjoying them less than I did when I was 16.

This is my favorite one. Alright, spoiler. Okay, when Jacob 'died'...I through the book at the wall. Not cool. I cried. And I wouldn't even read anymore for like...a week. It sucked. I loved him so much. Ohhh that made me so mad. I didn't even want to read anymore. It was so bad. I couldn't believe it. And that stupid girl, I forgot her name...but the one that killed him...ohhh man, if she was real...and I knew her. She would be dead. No joke. I hated her from the begging. Claire?? Was it?? I dont know. I dont even care. But, she sucked. And that was horrible, what happened to Jacob. I cried for the longest time. And I talked about it at school all the time. Until finally my friends yelled at me, and told me to shut-up. Haha. Fun stuff. Great book. My favorite one. =]

Unfortunately, I didn't like this book as much as I liked the first two in the series, and I'm guessing that's due to my strong dislike for Clara as a character. From the first moment we meet her I was annoyed, and I automatically liked any scene with her in it less than I might have originally. I also wasn't a fan of the drama between Drea and Chad. It felt so unnecessary and like something needed to be done with their characters subplots, but there was nothing else to really do with them.

Overall, I still love this series, and anytime I reread I certainly won't skip this one. The twist at the end was less predictable than I was expecting, so that is definitely a positive!

Where to begin?? Clara's character: from the very beginning I was kind of wishing that maybe Stacey would see all the damage she was doing and just pack up and leave town. I don't think she is a character ANYONE could sympathize with. But you have to admit that Donovan was right...she can't keep her nose out of everyone's business and it eventually turns around to bite you on the rear! HOWEVER, I CANNOT believe that Jacob is gone!!!!! I bawled my eyes out over that one. He was having nightmares of his own death and withheld that information because of his love for Stacey and wanting to help her and protect her. So sad. I have a love/hate for books that are like this.

This is my favorite book out of the whole series. I love that they are heading off to college and are leaving all of the bad stuff that happened at her boarding school last year behind. I also love that because they aren't in school anymore they have more freedom in that book to go places and to do things outside of school. The only thing that I don't like is what happens at the end of the book.

The entire lagacy of "blue is for nightmares" is just plain amazing, the storyline and the information it gives just makes me so happy. Its good to know that there are atleast a few peices of literature that don't completely demean the wiccan religon.

I was a little bit disappointed with the ending. It cannot end this way. Can't wait to read the next book to see the conclusion to the series. Anyway, I really enjoyed this despite the sad ending. I love the really tight bond Jacob and the main character shared. Love that the mystery is still going on and captivating readers attention.
