CHRISTOPHER GOLDEN is the New York Times bestselling, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of such novels as Road of Bones, Ararat, Snowblind, Of Saints and Shadows, and Red Hands. In Stones Unturned we get the background story of Dr. Leonard Graves and the mystery of his murder. It also focus on the evolution of Danny Ferrick. Even though I did enjoyed the third book in The Menagerie, the writing style is not working for me. It's out right flat. Sadly, I'm not going to read the next book.

The Menagerie is a very pleasing series of collaborative urban fantasy novels by Thomas E. Sniegoski and Christopher Golden. They books feature a large and diverse cast of characters such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Eve (yes, -that- Eve!), and influences ranging from Lovecraft and Alan Moore to traditional ghost and Fae folklore and all manner of mythology. It's like The Avengers and a Justice team got together in a cool prose situation, with great McGrath covers. Each volume tells a self-contained story as well as building upon the previous ones; unfortunately a huge threat is slowly revealed to be getting closer and closer... but only four novels appeared, leaving an annoying cliff-hanger. Nonetheless, they're all a lot of well-written fun.

I love the entire concept of this series - it has a great team of characters fighting evil in an urban fantasy series. This was basically two totally separate, yet interesting, stories running parallel - basically they broke the team apart for this book. I liked it, but I would have rather seen the team operate together.

This book in the Menagerie series highlighted the background stories of Dr. Graves, the ghost, and the evolution of the demon Danny. This series is lots of fun and I have enjoyed it immensely. The Menagerie are a group of often mismatched characters that have a common destiny. There are baddies out there beyond the mundane world, and this motley group deals with them. Eve, the mother of all, Clay, the tool of the Creator, Dr. Graves, the ghost, Danny the demon child, Ceridwen the Fae, and Mr. Conan Doyle, sorcerer.

This was a fast and enjoyable read. I love that it has roots in Boston and would recommend this series to anyone who loves Urban Fantasy.

So when you read a novel and some unsolved mystery is continuoulsy mentioned, you can't help but wonder. This novel investigates one of these so called mysteries, in looking back onto the mysterious death of Dr. Leonard Graves. An excellent novel of heroe's saving the world turned mystery. These characters are ones that you will want to believe in.
