Carrie loves to geocache, as well as volunteer her time with a local animal shelter and rescue group. While she enjoys traveling, she likes to spend most of her time at home with her wife and dogs.
She has written ten books in the Somerville series, and has revised and rereleased them as an independent writer.
Carrie has also written four stand-alone romances and has several more planned.

A must read series!
Heartbreak, tragedy, happiness and true love. A lot of emotions and a lot of exciting stuff going on. Both good and bad. I really enjoyed the adventures of the Walters Cauble family and their daily worries. Highly recommended.

More Drama and Angst for Our Friends
Amanda’s Sister is expecting her first child, and as much as she wants one of her own, she is scared Lex doesn’t want kids. Lex meanwhile has problems of her own. Her new land is turning out to be more trouble than its worth, especially when someone wants the land and isn’t willing to take no for an answer. Add in a new family member, an old adversary and things are just as chaotic as ever in this latest installment.
While this one isn’t my favourite in the series, it is a good one. Of course I loved the characters. It’s like visiting family again after all the books I’ve been through with these wonderful women. I loved the adventure and action, the drama and love. I’ve missed them. There is a shocking twist that I couldn’t believe and there was a trigger warning part that left me less than happy, especially when the perp got to keep his life. This can be skipped over if you are not comfortable with such a scene. There were a few things that left me wondering why they weren’t followed up on but if they had been, then the next story wouldn’t be able to keep that angle going. If you are a fan of this series, Then this is a must read for you. If you are new to Amanda and Lex, I strongly suggest starting from the beginning but you can always read this and catch up on the back story later. Either way, it’s worth the read.

The Amanda and Lexington story continues with mystery, angst, romance and challenges. What we know for sure is that Lexington will get seriously injured, Amanda will get roughed up and difficult situations will be encountered. In the end, the good guys continue to come out ahead and that is why I continue to read.

Ugh.
Alright. So… the first couple of books were ok. But at this point it’s just dumb. The drama is a stretch, and it is becoming more and more soap opera like. Not only that, but the authors continued refusal to do any research into things that are not horses is beyond frustrating.
In this book, all sorts of trouble is afoot. Most notably, Lex and Amanda’s refusal to talk to one another about anything. It’s just dumb.
Add in a long lost cousin, a villainous mother who apparently is the cat who walks through freaking walls, and the story is a frustrating read.
The way the author handles bank and securities fraud is laughably stupid. If an investment house lost that much money through fraudulent actions of their employee, they would have the SEC and the FBI crawling over every inch of the place. They wouldn’t just say ‘whoops, guess we will have to look into it’. The same with the bank. In the other books when Hubert stole money through wire fraud, the banks wouldn’t have been so blasé about it. In this book, Amanda’s entire TRUST WAS APPARENTLY WITHDRAWN IN A SINGLE ACTION. Which makes no sense whatsoever. A trust like that would probably need lawyers and multiple transactions to dismantle down.
Then the mother. Somehow because a nurse, her brother, and some random woman pretending to be her daughter said that she should be released she was? I’m 99% sure that that is not how criminally insane people are treated or handled. Then that somehow no one noticed or alerted any of her victims that she was released? And released early apparently?
Like, this is so much that I can’t even do the next book. The blerb says there’s another long lost sibling or cousin or something? This isn’t a romance any more. It’s a bad soap opera. That’s how it reads, and it’s not enjoyable.
The characters are there and could be fun. It’s nice to read about the family. What is not nice is the insane escalation of inability to communicate until the very end of the book, the stupid melodramatic villains, and the unrealistic plots. I guess I won’t get to read about the next time that Lex randomly assaults some random person instead of behaving like a normal member of society.

Good grief this has taken so much emotion to read!
Carrie L. Carr has dragged us kicking and screaming through this emotional roller coaster. I am not sure that I would have survived the deep trials that Lex and Amanda and family have! I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, for Liz to wreck more havoc on the ladies and the family. With Frank’s death, Jeannie’s stroke and the oh so tiny bundle of joy Frank and Jean made, there is hope for a happy ending!

A well established cast of rounded characters. Sometimes the amount of drama in the lives of the two main characters, Lex and Amanda, feels a little unbelievable but anyone who has already invested in this series will know what they are in for, and will enjoy this latest installment.

Really enjoyed this book. I had not realised this was book no 6 in a series but it did not detract from my enjoyment of it, although I will now be going back to the first one and start working my way through them all. There was so much packed into this story, it was not all lovey dovey and covered a variety of difficult subjects without making the book too deep. The characters also felt so real because they did not see eye to eye all the time and snapped at one another but that did not mean they were not still in love. All in all a good read which I would highly recommend.

This is about betrayal, anger, death, pregnancy and much more.
Carrie L Carr again has written another great book with a great read from start to the end.

Cringeworthy
Probably one of the worst series I’ve read. Very cringeworthy. I can’t stand how dependent Amanda is on Lex. It makes me so uncomfortable how they don’t care who is around when they get sexual.

I always enjoy the books in this series. With all the bumps and bangs Lex gets into, wonder how she survives! Great setup for the next book, quite a few things left hanging.
