This is a weird book that seems to assume you have a decent grasp of electronics, but zero clue on how to start building a random project. It's a bit dated, and I'd recommend the "Make: Electronics" series from Charles Platt instead of this.
It had solid advice on soldering and component layout though, so that's something.
