In this book, Steve Scoop, who is a reporter, is tasked with writing a story about a pair of missing polka-dot socks. In the process of interviewing people and following leads, Scoop explains and illustrates the proper use of quotation marks, exclamation points, question marks, and provides other recommendations for effective writing. At the end of the book, the newspaper article--penned using all of Scoop's suggestions--is shown for children to read. In addition to be an interesting read, this is a remarkable tool for teaching grammar and writing skills and to practice prosody.
