Ward and June Cleaver don't live here anymore. "The Frantic Family Cookbook" is designed with today's family in mind. Sprinkled with tips and kitchen insight, all the recipes in this cookbook are quick to make and (mostly) healthful--with the added benefit of being cost-conscious.
Autumn is when I get my cookbooks out and actually READ them, re-mark things for trying, etc.
I've had this cookbook since, ohhhhhh....maybe 2005 or so? I've made several of the recipes over the years, and I come back to it every few years. Aside from my quibbles about the then popular low-fat/no-fat dietary stuff, these recipes are really pretty easy to assemble and cook up, and pretty darned tasty as well.
There are some misprints here and there, and sometimes you do need to intuit whether or not your liquid-to-rice ratio is indeed correct, especially for the brown rice recommendations, but honestly? This cookbook is worth the money I paid for it.
This book is chockfull of recipes that are quick and easy to make - plus even my picky 10 year old will eat them. The only reason I didn;t give it 5 stars is that I think it could have been printed a little nicer. The ink ran a little when I got one of the pages wet. So just be careful about those splats. Otherwise this is a great cookbook to add to your family's collection.
This has a really unappealing cover, but don't worry, it has really great simple and kid friendly recipies. OK, so I haven't actually MADE any of them yet, but you get a feeling, right?
