The imPerfect Guy

Rate this book
I never set out to be famous. It sort of fell into my lap.
Just like Finn.

He was exactly what I needed in an assistant, and the exact opposite of everything I looked for in a guy, which made hiring him an easy decision.

It was perfect.
Then it wasn’t.

One by one, I started to fall for all of Finn’s imperfections, leaving me to question...

Was I simply looking for all the wrong things in a man? Or was Finn perfect because he was imperfect?

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

The imPerfect Guy
By: Leddy Harper

*REVIEW* 💋💋💋.5
The imPerfect Guy is a different sort of story. Girls, I think we all have insecurities and think we're fat and on and on. It's the typical nature of women, I suppose. This story flips the gender stereotype and places emphasis on a man's insecurities. I must admit, I find this perspective refreshing. I love a good spicy romance just fine, but I also want to read more characterizations of authenticity. In the story, Maddy is an Instagram sensation in need of a new assistant. Finn is a regular guy looking for something different than his usual daily grind. Finn applies for the assistant position, and Maddy hires him.

To be continued....

I was kind of split when it came to this book at times so I want to start off by listing the things I really liked about it.

I liked the writing and overall plot of the story. I thought it had a really good premise and really good potential. It's what led me to reading the book other than the fact that it's an author I enjoy. The plot of the story was girl hires male assistant that she initially thought was nothing like the usual guys she's attracted to even though they did find each other attractive. Then with time and plenty of opportunity to get to know each other they discover there is more to the other than they thought. The attraction is more than surface. It overall had a really good flow to the story.

The disconnect for me came from the characters themselves. There were quite a few moments when there was something they did or said that had me questioning how likeable they were. The next moment I liked them again. The back and forth was hard for me and messed with some of my enjoyment. I also just felt like there was a lot of lack of communication issues. Some that felt like a stretch.

I wouldn't hesitate to read another book by this author. I just think this one isn't going to go to the top of my list of books I loved by her.

It's a well known fact that I am a he fan of Leddy Harper. I have read just about all of her books and there is not one that I did not like. And the imPerfect Guy is no exception. As always she did not disappoint.

Mady is a social media influencer who is beautiful, sweet and has her own flaws and imperfections which is what also made her so lovable. She is looking for a new assistant. When she meets Finn, who based on his resume she thought was a woman, she feels this instant connection but is also not so sure that he is the right person for the job. With some convincing from Finn, she decides to take a chance on him.

Finn is cute, sweet and funny and I felt this instant connection between him and Mady. But he too is flawed and has his own insecurities which is what I loved about him. Normally it it the woman who has insecurities about their physical appearance, but here we see the roles being reversed. Finn is still holding onto his past and because of this his insecurities and feeling of "not being good enough" still haunt him. He sees Mady as this beautiful, sweet and kind woman who in his eyes is not someone that would ever go for him. But as time goes by, there is an attraction between the two of them that they cannot deny. The connection is one that makes you feel like they have known each other for years, it never seemed forced. They just clicked and while they both wanted more, there is also the little issues of Mady being his boss. And if things do not work out she not only loses a friend and lover but also her assistant. Will their relationship get in the way of everything else?

I loved the relationship that they had. They just connected so well. And what I loved the most was that neither one of them was perfect. That is what made this story so real. Both Mady and Finn had their flaws and they are ones that are so relatable on many levels. I loved them both but at times I will say that Finn's insecurities did frustrate me a little. For one I wanted to understand a little bit better, what the issues was with his ex. But aside from that while I did love him I didn't agree with some of his decisions, but it was the way Mady handled things that made me just love the both of them. She had her issues, and she is one of those girls who is sweet and kind to a fault but she was strong when she needed to be. And Finn learned from his mistakes and fought when he needed to fight. They really were perfect for each other.

I loved everything about this book, including the friendships. I loved the foursome of girl friends and the time that a they spent to gather. And Finn's best friend and his wife was also a great addition to this story. I cannot wait to see whose book is next!!

This is my first book by Leddy Harper and I really enjoyed it. The imPerfect guy is the story of Maddy, a social media influencer that is about to sign o a major deal to co-design a fashion collection. Maddy is in dire need of a new assistant to get her life in order so that she can focus on bigger and better projects. That’s when Finn steps in. When looking at résumés, Maddy thinks Finn is a woman, because of his last name, Kelly.

After the initial shock and clarification, the story progresses neatly, and I really felt that Harper’s writing was fun and relatable. Both characters are insecure, they are interesting, complex and just so real. They are not your traditional perfect looking main characters, and that makes their story have more substance. The imPerfect guy is a witty romance novel that knows how to be steamy and sweet without compromising the plot.

Thank you Leddy Harper and Social Butterfly PR for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book by the author, and as the year starts to wrap up, I've been thinking about how many amazing authors I have had the pleasure of finding this year and Leddy Harper is one of them. I went into this blind and only reading the blurb. I was intrigued right away after the blurb so I was so happy to find that I loved this book...

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, which I am doing and having no problem understanding the story, although I loved this so much I am curious about the other books and will be going and reading them.

This story is about Mady and her intense, funny, steamy and hot relationship with Finn and how it came about. Mady is a social media blogger. She's very successful and well known. She has hired her sister as assistance but things are getting busier and busier for her so she has to hire someone else, that's when she comes across Finn. She thought Finn was a woman, to begin with, but when that becomes evident that he is a he. Finn had a job, it was helping others find jobs so when he comes across Mady's ad, he's intrigued by it himself and applies for it himself. He needs to convince her that he is right for the job. He is a hard worker and he wants to prove that to her. After hiring him, it's a given that they were going to grow closer, having to take care of personal things on her behalf, but what she didn't expect was for sparks to fly.

It was obvious that there was an attraction between these two from the start, and the chemistry between the two is off the charts. The sexual tension between the two builds and builds and only thickens the more time they spend together. They struggle to keep a professional relationship as boss and employee and when lines are crossed and Finn goes and does something behind her back, she has no other choice than to let him go... But will her heart be able to let him go?

This was such a fantastic read. It was fun, sweet, light, yet hot as hell and it was refreshing to read a romance where the woman is the boss, and the guy is the assistance, I love role reversal and the author played these two perfectly for this story. It was entertaining, steamy as hell, enticing and she even threw in a few plot twists that I did not see coming!

Loved it

“I believe that someone can love me,” I argued.
“Oh, yeah?” She cocked her head to the side and leaned against the doorframe. “Then how come you couldn’t accept it from me?”

Mady is a sensation on Instagram. Her career is on the rise and her sister's help is not meeting the demand. With her workload growing, she needs an assistant. And that's why she's on her way to an interview with a potential candidate. But it can be said that she will have an unexpected surprise.
Finn has an established career, but his life is at a standstill. Needing a distraction and something to motivate him again, he decides to apply for the assistant position of a digital influencer. Something outside his comfort zone and a completely different endeavor than he's used to.
At first glance, Mady's instinct clearly says she is facing a failed interview. Finn is nothing she expects. Obviously, she was expecting someone of the opposite sex, not the big, bearded man who dresses too comfortably and knows nothing about fashion or social media. Totally imperfect for the job. Even more by the way she is attracted to him.
But if opposites attract, these two are a good combination. Mady is competent at what she does, but she is very young and naive. Finn is knowledgeable and helps her get organized. But the growing attraction can put this professional relationship to the test.
Mady and Finn hide personal issues that threaten to disrupt the relationship. She hides a secret from him, a secret that affects the way she sees herself before the world. Finn, on the other hand, has a serious self-esteem problem, and cannot accept that someone attractive may be interested in him.
These personal and mental questions of the protagonists, as well as Finn's jealousy and insecurity, weigh in on the narrative and the light and laidback romance, in some parts it becomes tense and dramatic. Their problem is serious, well portrayed, and is a warning to people who cannot accept their body image and let it affect their lives.
A romantic book with a couple with absurd chemistry, some drama and serious topics.

Leddy Harper's "The imPERFECT Guy" was funny and sweet, yet steamy at the same time. I liked both of the main characters, especially the female lead, Mady, and thought that they were well-developed. Despite being a brunette, Mady came across as the quintessential "dumb blonde" in Ms. Harper's previous book ("The UnEXpected Plan"), but she seemed so much smarter here. Her mannerisms were a lot more understandable once I learned more about her and her background. Aside from that, Mady was very sweet and outgoing, and I loved watching her slowly gain confidence in herself over the course of the story. She was so much more capable than she gave herself credit for being!

Mady's love interest, Finn, was somewhat more difficult for me to figure out than Mady herself. Most importantly, he was genuinely nice and incredibly protective of Mady, and I really liked that he wasn't the typical buff, super-hot, perfect hero type. He seemed real and attainable, like the kind of guy I'd meet on the street. However, Finn's insecurities often seemed to get the better of him, which was sometimes frustrating for me. Every time I thought he'd finally gotten past them and learned to trust in his relationship with Mady, something new would set him off, and the cycle would start all over again. Fortunately, he did finally get past them, and he and Mady were able to work things out in the end.

The book's secondary characters, especially Mady's three best friends, were a lot of fun, and I would love to see her friend Julie get a story next. She works in a hospital; maybe there's some "Grey's Anatomy"-type action going on there? ;-)

*The im(Perfect) Guy can be read as a COMPLETE STANDALONE.*

We do however see glimpses of Mady (our leading lady) in The un(Expected) Plan.

I really enjoyed Mady and Finn's story because both the characters were just so different from anything I've ever read before. Their flaws and imperfections are pointed out from the get go but I loved them for it and it made them even more real and relatable in my eyes.

Mady Russo is a gorgeous social media influencer. She's also a little ditzy and clumsy at times and whilst you'd think that'd irritate me, it just made her even more endearing and added to her charm.

I loved Griffin. I loved that he wasn't the perfect, handsome, rich, 6 pack hero. He was flawed and sweet and real and oh, so perfect. Responsible, funny, understanding and patient.

These two were perfect for each other. They had me chuckling and giggling. Their heat factor was plain fire. They both have their baggage and obstacles to overcome but that just added the drama element to the book and made it a great, fun read. Plus, there's cameos of some of our fave characters in this book!

All in all, rom com lovers, if you're looking for something never done before, quirky and fun? You need to meet these im(perfect) two! Another cat in the bag for Leddy Harper!

Mady is happy that her business has grown more rapidly than she anticipated however the only drawback is that she needs a personal assistant. When Finn applied for the job although he was not what she was expecting he seems like a perfect fit.

Finn runs his own business, but he is no arrogant sexy billionaire. The job sounded appealing and when he meets Mady he believes that just being around her would be a great benefit of the job even though he believes there is no way she would be interested in someone like him.

Witty banter, hot chemistry, great secondary characters and two characters who accepted each other faults and all.

I love her titles. I really do. They have so much meaning behind it.
Leddy Harper knows what she's doing. Her latest books nailed and I knew that this new one would be off charts.
I started to read it late and I wanted to slap myself for it.
Leddy Harper has a writing full of sassiness, feelings, hotness and some major topics.
She can put you into tears, oh tough, big and ugly, and fat tears... Been there, and done that. But she can also make you laugh so freaking hard.
The imPerfect Guy is her latest release and explores the lives of Mady and Finn.
Mady is a social influencer that enjoys what she does. If you had read the unEXpected Plan, you had already met her. But if not... Just read it first.
When she signed up with a major fashion designer she knew only two things. First, she would have to much work on her hands. And second, she needed to find an assistant. When she thought that she had the perfect girl...
Finn had his recruiting service and applied for an assistant job. He's used to finding the perfect assistant to help his clients but now he applied himself. He's reserved and doesn't smile often, he's a total badass. When he meets his boss...
So sweet. So perfect. So passionate. It was a joy.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging and soul searching. It was amazing to see each character embracing their fears and imPerfections.
Not everything is a bed of roses because sometimes we must be careful to not hurt ourselves with the thorns that life throws at us.
Each chapter was even more intense than the latest and the hot stuff is there too.
I loved to read a few bits and pieces from the other characters and it made me want to read those books again.
I wanted to keep reading. I wanted more. I always want more from this author.
Leddy... Amazing book woman... I loved it so much. But you know me right? I always want more so... What's next?I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

The imPerfect Guy by Leddy Harper was my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I thought the storyline was very real and relevant to today’s world, and the characters each had very endearing qualities about them both, especially once each layer was revealed and we saw Mady and Finn as they truly are.

The imPerfect Guy is the story of Mady, a social media influencer and Finn, who Mady hires as her assistant. Mady’s business is growing and as such needs further help in running it, cue in Finn! Mady at first thinks Finn is female, and is somewhat surprised upon their first meeting to meet him! Finn is deep down a bit insecure and doesn’t trust that he could be what Mady wants in her life, more than friends and boss/employee. Meanwhile Mady, although beautiful and a savvy social media influencer has her own insecurities to deal with. And it was this that I connected with mostly in this story, as insecurities in life is a very real part of many people’s lives, with Ms Harper addressing this in a well-written and thought provoking way.
The imPerfect Guy was a fun read for me, it was witty and at times emotional, and it made me want to keep on turning the pages! I enjoyed Mady’s friends as secondary characters, they provided laughter and light to the story and the addition of Finn’s friends Kyle and Marissa rounded out the storyline perfectly. The imPerfect Guy is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone, as I have done. I will be reading more of Leddy Harper’s books from now though!
A 4.5 star read from me.

I received a copy of this book, read it voluntarily, with all opinions my own.

The imPerfect Guy was such a sweet read for me, I had so much fun reading it. Mady and Finn were so damn likable, I enjoyed them both so much. Mady is an Instagram influencer who needs an assistant, enter Finn, definitely not what Mady was expected but was exactly what she needed.

Mady has a lot going for her but also has a lot of personal growth that she needs to go through to be ready for Finn and all he has to offer. She is strong and courageous, I love her big family and how protective they are of her. She has the ultimate girl gang with Julie, Nellie, and Brooke, they are a fun group of friends who always have each other’s backs.

Finn is adorable, a bit insecure but so cute. I loved that he is a big guy but isn’t chiseled out of muscle like other romance heroes. From day one, he has Mady’s best interests at heart, he truly wanted to help her with her career even if he didn’t always understand it. Having been left by his now ex-wife and being overweight in his youth, it has given him some self esteem issues and hardened his heart a bit.

Mady and Finn’s relationship is so natural and sweet, some love stories feel forced and this one didn’t. They both have issues to work out but they are able to lean on each other in such a sweet way, the fact that they care about each other is obvious.

This was my first Leddy Harper book and I can honestly say that I would read other books written by her. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it. Personally, I like shorter chapters but that’s just my preference. Overall, I enjoyed the characters and the overall plot of the book.

I received a review copy before release for an honest review.

This is part of a series but I have not read any of the other books in the series. It easily stands alone and I did not fall for the other characters. So while I really adored this book for me it was a standalone and I have no plans to read the other ones in the series.

This is the story about Mady. She is a very successful social media blogger and she has her sister as an assistant but she needs more and so she hires Finn Kelly to help her out. She originally thinks he is a she and so he has to convince her to hire him and then he works hard and becomes indispensible to her and then the romance hits!

This was very different in that Finn is a attractive but not HOT. He is flabby and doesn't have a million muscles but he is very smart and he is a hard worker and he has personality.

Maddy is hot in the blond, skinny cheerleader way and so Finn thinks she is too perfect for him and so he quietly lusts for her and doesn't think he has a chance at all. But inside Mady is not perfect either and so they really like each other.

However, Finn looks on the inside he needs to relies what a prize he is and Mady has to accept her inside imperfections. This was a fun story with a wonderful set of characters and a very important message about life, love and friendship. It was well written and I truly enjoyed every moment in this story.

4.5 stars to the realest guy I know!

The imPERFECT Guy is absolutely adorably, awesome. Finn is real. He's your husband, your neighbor, the guy who peaks your interest at the coffee shop. He is not the latest cover model on GQ. He is not the photoshopped abs on display everywhere. He most definitely isn't the 'roided up gym rats that can't put their arms down and only stare at the mirror or reflective surfaces instead of looking you in the eyes.

But Finn comes with his own list of complications and they are as real as the zit on your nose. I think I fell for Mady as Finn because I, myself, felt like Finn. He's easy to love, easy to identify with, and easy to point out his flaws because we feel them too! But do not get that crazy glint in your eyes because Mady isn't the pedestal princess everyone chalks her up to being. No diva here- even if she occasionally makes you question my statement.

This book isn't about perfection. It's about loving yourself enough to let others love you too. Own your flaws, own you! It's a beautiful story and it's uplifting. But it's also funny as hell because Mady is ...well, Mady! No other way to describe her. She just is herself.

You may look for the perfect guy but I will always fall for The imPERFECT Guy.

Oh, how I adored these two! Together, Maddy and Finn are perfectly imperfect!

From the moment they meet — She mistakenly believed he’d be a she — to all of their quirks, insecurities and arguments, I was rooting hard for these two.

I liked that Finn is the assistant to Maddy, rather than the other way around. There’s a delicate balance between these two as he tries to help her build her brand, yet not overstep as her boyfriend or put her down as not being a strong enough businesswoman.

But eventually the lines between their personal and professional lives blur. Finn is a confident guy, but he ends up letting his insecurities get the best of him. Still kind of beaten down from his divorce, he sabotages things when the going gets rough and turns the blame onto Maddy. At least he is man enough to realize that he screwed up and their reunion is worth the wait!

While this is a standalone, it’s set in the same world and timeline as The UnEXpected Plan, as Maddy and Brooke are friends. While the girls all hang out and there are some scenes that also took place in Brooke’s book, there’s nothing that carries over that you would need to know about.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I loved Finn and Mady’s story. These two characters were both extremely relatable and felt so real and down to earth. Mady lives a life on social media, but the image people see isn’t the full picture of who she truly is as a person. Finn isn’t the typical hero, he is full of flaws and imperfections, but was sweet from the start. It is so easy to connect and relate to these characters.

The imperfections they both had is what made them truly perfect for each other. I loved their chemistry and how easy going everything was for them. Nothing felt rushed or unnatural. Though, there were a few bumps in the road when it came to their relationship, sometimes second chances are well deserved.

Mady’s friendship with all the girls was fun. I seriously love it. It had me wishing I could be a part of their group and I look forward to spending more time with them in future books!

This story was sweet, enjoyable and had me laughing a few times throughout. These characters were fantastic and I was rooting for them the entire time. The imPERFECT Guy is a great office ish romance that will have you laughing.

Where can I find a Finn?

I have been a fan of Leddy Harper’s for quite some time now and The imPerfect Guy is a great addition to her creations.

Maddy is a paid Instagram promoter and is a dire need of an assistant due to her joining forces with a fashion designer. When Maddy comes across Finn’s application for the position she is convinced that he is actually a she and is in for a huge surprise. Finn is not your typical guy, he does not think he is the cat's meow, and he is the most down to earth guy.

When these two first meet you can tell from the start that sparks are flying and there is going to be trouble. Well, not trouble "trouble". The imPerfect Guy has a friend to lovers type of feel going on and it actually suits the book. Leddy has written a wonderful creation filled with normal relationship issues. Maddy does have a bit of growing up to do and Finn is just the right person to help her do that. They suit each other like you would not believe.

I highly recommend The imPerfect Guy.

The Imperfect Guy is the first book I have read by Leddy Harper. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed her writing. She created an endearing romance in today’s fast paced modern world that is ruled by social media and digital influences. She showed how beneath the public images are real human beings with real insecurities and real emotions. I loved how she illustrated that men have body image insecurities as well.
*
Although this book starts a bit on the slower side and has a slow build, it still demands the reader’s complete attention. The reader gets to know the characters as well as get a thorough understanding of their world. Once the story picked up pace it became a smoldering romance that demanded a happily ever after. Maddy and Finn will steal your heart!

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a nice, light hearted , but with an edgy contemporary vibe.

The imPerfect Guy by Leddy Harper is a standalone contemporary romance told in dual POV between Mady and Finn. This is a sweet strangers to boss/employee to more trope with a bit of angst, a bit of real life, and a bit of fun thrown in the mix. Well-written and moderately paced, we get a front row row seat to Finn and Mady's meet cute, his somewhat alpha tendencies and her interesting career as a social media influencer. I enjoyed the story but occasionally got frustrated with Mady's maturity level and her relationship with her best friends. I feel like if she had perhaps shared more with them instead of keeping secrets there would have been less room for poisonous thoughts to creep in and sow doubt over her & Finn's relationship. Regardless - the happy ever after is well-done. Enjoy!

The Imperfect Guy is a standalone boss to lover’s romance, with all the drama along the way.

Maddy is a social media influencer and her business is getting bigger and bigger; when she finds the perfect assistant on paper she is taken back when she meets face to face. Finn has been running his own successful business but needs a challenge, when he submitted his resume, he never expected to get a sit down or to be offered the job. When their attraction gets to boiling point, they cross the line from professional to personal.

I personally enjoyed this story, Harper touched on some sensitive topics; it makes you stop and realise that men like woman have their own body image issues and that behind every picture posted online there could be someone struggling.

Great book- it is a solid 4.5 outta 5 from me, it is funny and so perfectly imperfect! Leddy Harper touched on some serious underlying issues in between the folds of this funny and sweet romance and I think she did a great job of. There were a few things that seemed a bit extreme to me (hence dropping it from 5 to 4.5) and I could not rationalize the characters behaving that way. But, it did not take a way from the story or the character development!

All in all if you are looking for a perfectly imperfect book that will make your heart happy (and sometimes sad), then this is definitely the book for you. This is a story about real people and real feelings that go along with it, you will not be disappointed reading this!

PS: Thank you to Leddy Harper and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

Leddy Harper is always a delight to read!

Anytime Leddy Harper has a new release, you make time in your schedule to read it. Not only are her stories fun and heart-warming, but the characters she creates are truly some of the best you'll ever read about. Mady and Finn were so typical and so easy to connect with, I felt as though I knew them both personally. As this office-type romance progressed, I fell hard for those two, wanting them both to see what was so obvious to the reader--that they should be together.

Despite some bumps in the road with Mady and Finn, there were some really great moments take took place throughout The imPerfect Guy that definitely put a smile on my face. It's just one of those stories you keep on reading because you have to know how it's all going to play out!

Another great story by one of my favorite authors!

"Meeting the perfect guy seemed impossible. Little did I know. I was just waiting for the imperfect guy to come along."

The imPerfect Guy is a refreshing read filled with great humor and chemistry. Both Mady and Finn have their own insecurities that jeopardize their future and make them risk missing out on a perfectly imperfect match, but with a few tears and challenges - like every good rom-com - there's always the promise of a happy ending.

Entertaining and all-around fun read that takes place simultaneously with The unEXpected Plan, but can be read as complete stand-alones featuring the same group of four girlfriends.
