*Author's Tandem Unit was previously published as Take Two by Kensington books about 10 yrs ago. I have since gotten the rights back and decided to give the book a sexy new cover, (since the old one was horribly cheesy) and rerelease it for your reading pleasure.

Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

I felt the story was meant for young adults although some explicit sex scenes.

I didn’t relate or like the heroine who acted like a 18 years old girl. One guy was a jerk and the other his shadow.

I tried to skip, and then It was a lost cause for me. I couldn’t finish this book.

I remember reading this author a decade ago with pleasure but it seems that I evolved to something more spicy now.

The almost virgin who thinks she is a slut for desiring 2 men is a bit old to me.

Early EA is so much fun. This isn't the Kindred universe, but one that predates it. I vaguely remember some aspects being in another of her old books (cannot recall -- maybe the sex robot one?).

Good

I would have given it 5stars because it was a good story loved the two hero’s but the heroine I just wanted to slap or strangle I’m not sure which she had her head so far up her butt it made the story painful

Blake and Holt, best friends and detective partners volunteered to be fitted with a new technology, tandem chips that gave police officers spatial awareness of each other.

A Tandemizer—a chip implanted in the base of the brain—the medulla oblongata—that allowed two partners to work as one. It allows you to sense your partner’s whereabouts at all times, to move as a unit and avoid danger.

But the chips had some unintended side effects, namely emotional bleed over.

“Yeah. The Tandem chips made us too close. We can feel each other’s emotions. Sometimes we catch each other’s stray thoughts. When the T-link between us really opens up it’s like nothin’ I can describe to you. What Holt touches, tastes, and sees I feel and taste and see, and vice versa. It’s like livin’ inside two brains and two bodies at once.” He shook his head, a far away look in the deep blue eyes. “And it’s so good, so right— that sense of completion, of wholeness. It’s like an addiction neither one of us can ever break....”

But as deep as the tandem pairing is, there is the promise of more should they find a third who can bridge the link between them.

[W]e’re pretty comfortable the way we are. We’re best friends even though we drive each other crazy sometimes. There’s really only one drawback... if you take one of us you have to take both,” Holt said in her ear. ...

“You see, Sadie, there were a few bugs in the first Tandem chips, the ones Blakely and I received. The T-link caused by the chips acts like a circuit, a conduit for the energy between us. It’s almost like a sixth sense in a way; I know where my partner is at all times, how he’s feeling, if he’s in danger…and he knows the same about me. But despite all that the circuit is incomplete.”

“We need a third. ... A third person to complete the circuit, to fulfill the T-link’s full potential,” Holt said matter of factly.

“You mean you want someone else to have a chip implanted?” Sadie asked flatly.

“No, that wouldn’t be necessary,” Holt said. “There are…other ways to link.”

Sadie looked back and forth between them.

“Sex,” she breathed. “So that’s what all this is about.”

“Yes,” Blakely said simply. “It’s like an empty space, a hole that needs to be filled. We’re only complete when the T-link is completely open.”

“And it’s only fully open when we’re sharing a woman, making love to her, penetrating her at the same time,” Holt finished. ...

“Holt and I have been lookin’ for a long time for a girl we both care about—both love. Someone we can share our lives with.”

Aww, the ending was so cute.

Holt and Blakely are best friends and detectives who have a brain chip inside of them that allows them to feel each other's emotions and sometimes thoughts. They decided to undergo this procedure, so they would be able to work together better and apprehend criminals. The negative side effect of the chips is that they must share a woman between them. As a result of this, their love life is very difficult since most women can't handle the connection or don't want to try. They're on a mission to crack down on illegal flesh vats and brain rapes (brains stolen from humans to be inserted into prosties, sex dolls) when they encounter Sadie, an aspiring reporter who's trying to crack the story. Sadie has the right brain chemistry to handle the connection, but she comes from a repressive, prudish colony called Goshen so she feels horribly guilty about being with two guys.

I'm a big Evangeline Anderson fan. This is one of her early works I discovered on KU. I loved the new cover (the old cover doesn't look so good lol), and the story looked interesting, so I decided to give it a shot. This tandem unit concept of two men needing to share a woman predates the Twin Kindred. Moreover, the book had the sex is healing "trope" (not sure that really is a romance trope) that is prevalent in her Kindred books. A lot of times in her Kindred books, the hero and heroine haven't formed a bond until one of them, typically the heroine, gets injured and needs to be saved by the other. So they have penetrative sex, which forms a bond between them. (A bond in the Kindredverse is what marriage is to us but stronger, as the divorce rate is high these days.) It was similar in this book.

I'm glad I finally finished a book, lol.

Tandem Unit

Omg! This book was so intense and exciting. Holt and Blakely are police officers from New New York City on Old Earth, and are on assignment to bust a prostie borg lab using illegal flesh tanks. Sadie is a reporter from the planet Io which is a millions miles from Old Earth. They meet on Titan, Saturn's largest moon, where she is undercover posing as a prostie borg in a prostie brothel in order to write an article about this practice. Holt and Blakely are undercover to find out who is stealing minds and placing them in the prostie borgs illegally. Danger and near death experiences are some of the trouble they face along with sexual tension and sexual healing. Absolutely a must read!!

A very good read that is well worth the time and effort! Sadie is a reporter posing as a prostie-borg when she is selected as a partner by 2 very handsome but different men. This leads to a different aspect to her story but also an adventure and romance which leaves her angst ridden and unsure if herself.
All in all an interesting tale and a good read that I enjoyed very much

it what I expected

I knew going in that this was a triad romance, and so was expecting lots of girl meets boys, falls in love, lots of hot sex, etc. Ok, got that, but what I did not expect was a story line that twisted and wriggled and thoroughly captivated me running through the whole thing. Super great read!

Enjoyable Read

I enjoyed this read and the characters. Sadie took longer than necessary to come around and I wonder if she would have without the emergency? I also saw that bit a mile away. A great epilog scene would be a prison visit to see they were all fine. There are obvious parallels with the Kindred books. I recommend the read, but this author has better stories.

Bridging the gap

Despite some of the questionable science, this was full of good action, hot romance, and the quality characters we have come to expect from Evangeline Anderson. I understand this was one of her early works, but it is still as enjoyable as her later stories.

Tandem unit

The two main male characters are both sexy and honourable which warns the cockles of my heart. So no wonder romance may go their way.

First paragraph: “We'll take that one.”
Sadie knew she was in trouble when the dark, curly-haired man pointed straight at her, despite her attempt to hide behind the cybernetic prostie-borg in front of her. Pasting a blank look on her face, she tried to remain calm and look like all the other girls in the line-up.

A conservative reporter is caught up in a sex-bot investigation with two bonded Earth cops in this hot sci-fi erotica by author Evangeline Anderson.

Sadie goes undercover to write the next great article about the prostie industry. Now her Overlook-me chip fails and two men shows up to buy a moment with her.
Once in the secluded room, it turns out the two men are detectives, also investigating this place. So why not join forces?
Threesome, sci-fi and smut. OK read.
