Enduring Fear

Rate this book
Socially awkward.
Irresistibly powerful.
Quirky 24-year-old Sephy has moved to Yorkshire to escape her troubled past. Now she has a good job, a home and a devoted best friend - all the ingredients she needs to live the drama-free, normal life she craves.
Being normal isn't easy for someone who can perceive other people's auras, though. Sephy can tell at a glance whether someone is essentially good or bad and what mood they're in, but keeping this a secret leaves her feeling isolated and alone.
When she is rescued from impending danger by Joseph, she finally feels a connection with someone. She is intensely drawn to him and is overjoyed when she is offered a job in the legal practice run by his enigmatic family. His father, Thomas, is kind and welcoming, but other family members, and even Joseph himself, are strangely wary of her.
When an old adversary threatens her once more, Sephy is forced to face her demons. In doing so, she learns that there's more to Joseph and his family than meets the eye - and when she uncovers her own true nature, she realises that they may have every reason to fear her.
Sephy is not weak, and she is far from defenceless.
She has power.
Lots of it.
Now she just has to decide how to use it.
A tale of discovery and survival, mystery and superstition. Perfect for fans of the Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Fallen by Lauren Kate, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead and, of course, the Twilight saga by Stephanie Meyer.

Jessica lives in Yorkshire and collects careers. So far, she’s been a solicitor, will writer, copy writer, teaching assistant and mum. The latter is by far her favourite, even though the pay is terrible and her boss often makes her work unsociable hours.
As a copy writer, Jessica has written about everything from dental implants to how to install an orangery roof. Bearing in mind that her list of careers makes no mention of dentistry or the building trade, it just goes to show you shouldn’t believe anything you read on the internet, no matter how well-written it may be.
Enduring Fear is her first novel and she hopes it will be the start of her latest (and second favourite) career.

Jessica Wilberforce was born and raised in Yorkshire. She worked as a solicitor in the fields of child protection and family law for 7 years before leaving to raise her family. When her son reached school age, she returned to work part-time as a teaching assistant by day and (to top up her salary) a copywriter by night, creating website content and blogs for various clients and companies. This enabled her to be a mum and earn enough to pay the bills.
Through her work as a copywriter, Jessica has learnt a great deal about many subjects including dentistry, self storage, and travel destinations so that she can write with some authority about all of these things. Her most challenging piece to date was an instruction manual on how to install an orangery roof... The research for that particular piece began with a Google search of, "What is an orangery?" but the end result was so convincingly authentic that she was asked to reproduce it by a different client a year later...
As well as writing non-fiction for profit, Jessica has been writing fiction for fun for almost 20 years. Enduring Fear is her first published novel.

Having been on government lockdown with the Coronavirus outbreak I decided to start reading ......
Well what an amazing book, I couldn’t put it down at times and wanted to stay up at bedtimes to read it. From start to finish it had me gripped with wondering what was happening next.
A fantastic read and will definitely keep an eye out for anything else you write.

Enduring Fear was a fun read and I can't wait for the next one. The main character Sephy was quirky and felt truly relatable. I think because of Sephy's character I was instantly drawn into her world. The book had mysteries throughout that continued to draw you in. Not everything was answered by the end but enough was to leave you satisfied and ready for the next book.

An intriguing and exciting read. In equal measures thrilling, dramatic and romantic, cleverly laced with wit and humour. This was one book I didn't want to put down. Looking forward to the next book.

Not my usual read, however, it proved a great read thank you!
in no time I was hooked.
I loved all the characters but especially Sephy, who is strong, independent
whilst also vulnerable and at times extremely laugh out loud funny. I also
loved how the intrigue unraveled. Cannot wait to find out what lies in store .......

4.5 stars.
Many scenes in the book kept me on the edge of my seat. Sometimes it felt like a rollercoaster. I liked the characters, even the side characters. My favourite was Sephy, the heroine. I felt for her so much...
