Lovers or enemies...those two were the only options on the table. Love. Chaos. Pure. Utter. Madness. A story about two orphans who made a pact. Star-crossed lovers both meant to shine. Add a hefty dose of jealousy and betrayal, it's the ultimate recipe for disaster.  Revenge...could it really be the sweetest of sins? River Ellis was my equal match when serving a cold dish of vindictiveness. We knew each other too well. We knew which spot to target and which part to make one come to heel. We exploited each other's weaknesses like the bastards that we were. We already live in a cruel world...but we were unapologetically harsher with each other. When we love, we love with every fiber within us. When we hate, we hate with every single spec of atom in our bodies--to the last drop of blood, to the very last air we breathe. Like a goddamn vendetta, it could only be settled until the opponent no longer lives and walks this earth.  When together, we soar. When apart, we wage a silent war.  River had been the yin to my yang. We understood that the only way to part--was to part as enemies. It's just the way of life. It's just how we were wired. No matter how we painted it, fold and unfold it, rearrange the puzzle, the truth will always resurface. It'll always prevail, poetically and tragically, unchanged.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this is the 5th book I've read by Pamela Ann. I haven't figured out what the draw is because there's so much wrong with "Unapologetic" and the other 4 I read! After reading my past reviews it's obvious each book has the same problems, which is puzzling. Wouldn't the author improve her writing after time?
As in the other books, "Unapologetic" seemed like it was a book 2 and I should have read book 1 first to understand what was going on. A lot of the back story of River and Cara was just slightly hinted at so I never did figure out what their issues were.
Another theme I've noticed from this author is the bizarre writing. In previous reviews I've stated it almost seems like this author recently learned English but doesn't understand what words to use and this book is the same. Some of my favorites:
"If River dared kiss me, my knees would harshly meet his golden twin nuggets."
"He laughed melodiously, sending me straight to the shitters of memory lane."
"And since I was an outstanding date, I didn't want to be a nuisance, so I tried to brave it out and mingled on my own, venturing socially to people who seemed to give me the silent disdain through their eyes."
"I donned my comfort robe before I began toying and shaping my hair."
The h says things like "Thank you mucho" and refers to her sore feet as "throbbing stems". A woman who performs colon cleansings is referred to as a "turd technician".
Is it just me??!

Ann's stories kill me with the angst. My heart can't take anymore. I always have to read something funny after her books.

Filled with angsty love, second chances, love triangles, and the prose that only Ann can pull off, this book will definitely gut you.

This is a second chance at love romance. River and Cara grew up in foster care together. they grew up and fell in love. River had dreams and went off to make them come true. His success comes with consequences. Distance and jealously cause to lovers to separate. Two years later they meet up again. River is still in love with Cara. Cara has moved on but finds it hard to stay away from River. The story starts off really slow. It was hard for me to finish. It does pick up with many ups and downs and some angst.

***I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.***

Reading the blurb on this one got me interested that's why I applied to be an ARC reader and the author is brand new to me so I wanted to give it a go. But after reading almost half way into the book, it felt kind of boring to me. How can a blurb be so good and then the actual book be so bad? It dragged on and on between River and Cara's non existent relationship to them fetting back together to them having sex with other people. The reason for their break up was not really paid much attention to or explained, all was said that they both played a part in ruining each others lives.

I give this a 2.5-3 stars.

Great Book

I knew from the very beginning that this was going to be an excellent book because River truly pissed me off! He was arrogant and overbearing about Cara's feelings and didn't acknowledge his part in their break up. Overtime, I realized that this was his way of coping with his pain, but it was still BS. Since this book evoked so many emotions, I had to give it 5 stars!

I really don't know what to say about this book. It was up and down in so many places it had my head spinning more than once with all the repeating in the chapters. I understand that some was necessary but not all. At least in my opinion.

The book was rather good after actually finding the story line.

The sex was not as hot but it was good.

One star because the sentence construction made me laugh. Using big words in every other sentence, just because. Made me question what I knew about the English language. Anyway, both the characters are stupid and toxic - a deadly combination. Don't know how this book ended up on my shelf. Do not recommend anyone wasting their time reading this.

Cara and River take us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions in this second chance story. Cara has had exactly one unforgettable love of her life… River. On the first day at her new group home there was River and for a scared little girl who was never loved and constantly let down, the boy whom instantly noticed and cared for her stole her jaded heart. She thought that River was the be all end all, but just like everyone else he let her down and crushed her. Two years later after she has finally somewhat put herself back together he waltz back into her life with proclamations of love and happily ever afters, but Cara is not the going to be burned again. River claims that the things that tore them asunder were all misunderstandings and foolish youthful mistakes and that now they have a real shot at true happiness. He wants nothing but her happiness he claims, but she has heard all these lines before. First loves are forever apart of you and Cara may be hard pressed to just wish way River.

I read this book as part of an arc program. I thought this book was a good read that had a very emotional ride. River and Cara grew up together in foster care and fell in love. They had planned to marry, but when River's career in Hollywood took off, he had to do some things to please other people and Cara left. Two years later when Cara herself was a success, River finds her and wants her back. River claims to have changed, but Cara doesn't trust he won't break her heart again. This was a good book I really enjoyed, I thought I wanted them to be together, then I wanted them apart, it left me wondering what would be for the best. They seemed to hurt each other even though they loved one another. I finished this book and immediately looked for the sequel Savage. Well done

Unapologetic was a great 5 star read and book one in the Unapologetic series.

Cara and River grew up in foster care. He left, it’s been two years, he promised to come back and never did. He became a successful actor and was in tabloids with several different women, breaking Cara’s heart sending her into a spiraling dark place.

“I’m terrified…” Of him and what he could do to me. He knew my weaknesses, and I couldn’t trust him not to use them against me. -Cara

Now she is trying to move on, dating someone else, moving forward with her career. The man she was dating didn’t sit well with me, he wasn’t right for her at all. He was such a jerk. Than things take a twist when River steps back into her life and is insistent about being with her again. There is something about River that continues to pull her in. Will she be able to keep him at arm's length?

I really liked this read although at times Cara did frustrate me slightly with her back and forth things. We get some very hot and steamy moments and a couple of unexpected twists. All of the secondary characters were great, I loved her neighbor. If you're looking for a good second chance romance you will like this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Cara and River were both parent-less and grew up in foster care together and they became each others family. When they were older they decided to have a relationship that turned into this great love that would soon be broken when he started his Career leaving her behind where she would then disappear for two years before River would find her again and try to win her back at all costs. Cara was not one to let River back into a relationship with her again and break her like he did before, and River was going to stop at nothing to try to prove he has changed and that she should give him a second chance.

What I enjoyed most about Unapologetic was seeing River's love for Cara and all the sweet things he would do for her to prove his love, watching Cara know what she should do but her body knew what it wanted but she was telling her heart it wasnt worth another breakup later that would shatter her again. Watching the two of them become friends again (somewhat) both afraid of being hurt again. River was always supportive of her and wanted her happy but at his cost of his happiness.

This book has alot of angst in it and some of what I would call cheating on each other. This book has Cara a woman who lived through the foster care and finally found a home and a best friend in River they grew up together and loved hard, River's get famous and leaves Cara in the dust to remain his secret fiance while he builds his fame but it didnt work the way he planned when she up and disappeared, River's finally finds her once her Career took off and he isnt willing to let go ofher this time, a second chance at love. If you like stories like this, then Unapologetic is a must!

Awesome book! A second chance romance. Cara was an orphan carrying the baggage of her life going from home to home. She finally landed at a home with wonderful parents. River was at the same home. They fell in love and through misunderstanding and meddling from other people they broke up. That is the first of the story. It gets started at an after party for Cara’s show. River came to find her and tell her congratulations.
They story has unusual chemistry, lust, demons from the past, interference from several sources, sexy scenes, misunderstandings, soul searching, and love.
Will Cara forgive River? Can River get through the walls Cara has put up? Will they fight for their love? Grab the place you love to read and get started. Warning the story of Cara and River continues in Savage.
Pamela Ann is a talented writer that takes her plots and through empathy builds her characters and plot into a gripping story. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

OMG Pamela Ann is killing me with this new series. With each page she is tearing at my heart a little more each time. River and Cara's story is so sad, tragic and complicated but also full of raw love and emotion. Unapologetic is the first book in the series. River and Cara meet when she was taken into foster care. Both became inseparable they were friends then lovers and then suddenly everything was broken between them. Now time has gone by and they are reunited. How will they react to seeing each other again? Will the past keep them apart or bring them together? If you are looking for a story that will have you on a emotional high and an intriguing ride then you will enjoy this book. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

The situation Cara puts herself into with River is not sexy, it is appalling. I could not read past chapter 2 for the pure reason that the relationship between Cara and River reminds me of a relationship of my own that more or less mirrors theirs. Although, unlike her, I was never foolish enough to allow such a manipulative and self-centered guy back into my life. I cannot truly express how many things I immediately find wrong with Cara just in the first few chapters, including the fact that she makes an incredibly huge mistake at the very beginning of the book. Several mistakes, really, leading up to the real kicker.

The book was ok. This is the story of Cara and River, who met in foster care. They became inseparable from then, through the teen years until they broke up...River left to follow his dream of being a rock star. A couple of years later and Cara is a budding actress and the two reconnect. Will they be able to forgive and forgot past hurts and support each other's career?
River was a bit of an arrogant jerk and Cara was a bit too accommodating. But I don't give up easily so will have to read the next book to see if the get an HEA.

The low rating is because I couldn’t get into the story no matter how hard I tried. I put it down and then picked it back up hoping for something to pull me in but it didn’t work. I couldn’t stand the never-ending dance of emotions between Cara and River. It was like just get over it and decide what path to take already. One thing I liked out of the book was Cara’s friends, especially Anton. He brought some semblance of interest into the story. Overall, this won’t deter me from reading more of this author’s works.

I enjoyed the journey of this second chance book and the relationship between River and Cara. It was a bit slow at first but grew through the chapters. This was not my favorite book of Pamela's but it was still a good read. It brought out so many emotions and you have to give props to an author that can have you go from hating a character to loving them. 3.5 stars

I am definitely a Pamela Ann fan I read so man of her series and I am so happy to read River Ellis and Cara's story. So many obstacles and so many people who tried to break them up every kind of way, but the love of two young people who even when they were foster children with no one but each other to count on. This book is such a dramatic roller coaster. This such a fascinating story and I would encourage you to check this story out, any Pamela Ann book for that matter.

I wanted to be captured into the storyline but to no avail. It just didn't grab my attention, but maybe I wasn't into wanting to read this story at the time. I might try reading it in the future to see if my rating would change. The constant emotions kept swapping between the characters of Cara and River. Although their emotions were churning, mine wasn't. I will still read more of this author's work. Just because I rate a book low does not mean I won't like the next story.

What could I say? Finally Pamela make her comeback!!! I'm kinda nervous because there is no news about her at all for few months and suddenly released this book.

So why I give 5 stars for this book?

Because finally someone make me jump around again for a book! River and Cara's mad lovestory kinda reminds me of Dimutris and Lindsey story. Both are madly in love with each other, they can't get out of it no matter how bad it is.

I do understand Cara pain and her decision to left River and River's grovel on his knees for Cara is quite satisfy me.

I JUST COULDN'T WAIT FOR PAMELA'S NEXT BOOK.

I waited 5 years to read this trainwreck. The last book took years to publish and I know better than to read unfinished angsty shit.

This is gonna be a telenova on acid, I can tell. I personally cannot wait…I think I’ll hate all the characters by the end…

Good storyline

Good storyline only needs a better proofreader. Missing words and incomplete thoughts didn't allow me full enjoyment of this cliffhanger. Too bad there was such negligence in editing.

A very long book with too much filler, I felt lost a lot of the time and was just wishing the main couple would get together and be done with it.
